Ok, after having seen X3 last nite and thinking how Gambit could have possibly fit in, I think I have a good idea. If you haven't seen the movie yet or read anything in these forums then this will contain spoilers. Moving on:

Rogue in the Danger Room was protected by Colossus because her power doesn't really give her a good defense in the field of battle. The whole thing with Bobby should be over, he's with Kitty now. Rogue is frustrated about not being able to help the X-Men in addition to the alienation her powers give her. She wants the cure because she feels she's burdening the team, not because she can't hold hands with her boyfriend. When she gets off the bus to get in line for the cure she meets Remy on the street. He introduces himself and they get to talking. Rogue explains her frustrations and Remy offers her another way. He takes her to another mutant who has the ability to heighten mutant abilities, like Sage. Rogue is not cured but is given invulnerability and the power of flight. She takes Gambit to Alcatraz during the final battle where they appear, much like Angel, in the thick of it. Therefore we, the audience, get to see not only the Rogue from the comic books but Gambit fighting with charged cards and a staff. At the end Rogue shows Gambit his new room where we assume he will be an X-Man and also show Gambit and Rogue's growing relationship. I know it's not much but I think that this would have satisfied most Rogue fans and most Gambit fans. What do you all think?

i think gambit hitting on rogue in line is a good idea and talking her out of it. giving her the right words, to feel good about herself, and then i think she could of gone back to the mansion ready to fight.
but having a power boost and gambit tag along is kinda of silly.

Yeah...It doesn't really seem to fit that well...

Save Gambit as the breakout character for X4. ****...there was barely enough room for ****ing Angel in X3 I am glad Gambit wasn't thrown in.

i think when rogue was going to take the cure she could've ran into gambit who was taking the cure as well. then the two would've talked for a long time, hitting it off, ending up not taking the cure and leaving together

The main reason her even getting the cure was for Bobby therefore that wouldn't make much sense IMO.

I couldn't agree more; this is exactly what I explained to my friends who were *****ing about Gambit not being in. As much as I was pissed he wasn't in, I would have been even MORE pissed if they gave him some lame 2 minute cameo that was pointless a-la-Angel. :down

Yea im glad he wasnt in the movie, it was crammed as it was

At Comic-Con 2006 Sam Raimi admitted that he didn't want to have Venom in his Spidey flicks, something that he stated years ago as well. BUT Avi Arad had convinced him that the fans were dying to see him so thats one of the main reasons Venom is in the Spider-Man 3.

Now if Raimi could put his ego aside and add a character he initially hated(now loves), why couldn't the same be done with Gambit? They could have sacrificed a few cameos to include him.

I preffer Gambit in a new sequel, with a new story and more time to develop his role and relationship with Rogue, with different scenes, not like X3, I mean, new spaces, in the city... at night... all this kind of things for their relationship.

I also prefer him in another trilogy. Having him in X3 would have not give his deserved depth and turn him into an eye-pleasing cameo. I dont want Gambit cameos, i want an acctual role, at least "Bobby-in-X3" sized. So i had no problem with him being out, it would waste his character in a movie that doesnt deserved to have such a good character. Haad him in X2? i would love, but having his name attatched to X3 would be a waste coughPsylockecough imo.

How would movie Rogue react to Gambit?
hopefully he would have an echanting personality. I think Rogue would kinda resist in the beggining, but he would be a good presence to her, and then slowly she would develop that "i hate him but i love him" just like in the old cartoon...
if a miracle happened and Gambit was introduced as Storm's frriend from the time she was a thief (in my perfect world he would be like a younger brother for Storm, she took care of him when he was a kid, but he starts the movie in the brotherhood, and then at the end makes the decision to go to the X-men side, because of Storm and Rogue. We would get to know a bit about Storm's past)

I picture Storm and Rogue talkingg about him, and how Rogue doesnt like him in the beggining. In thee end, they are as close as possible...

by not having him stand on the Hill durings Mags speach...and then deny it was him...and give hime a line in the DVD or atleast an aknowledgement they tried, failed and saved for future movie or spinoff.

The original idea was to have Gambit be in the prison Magneto gets Mystique out of, right? I read that somewhere.

Well they could meet inline at a cure place, and Gambit's only there because hes with a team of brotherhood follows (led by Pyro) to terrorize the thing. And while Pyro is *****ing out Iceman, Gambit and others could be wandering through the crowd. Gambit sees Rogue, and hits on her.
Says some quick and brief that makes her change her mind, maybe she changes her mind after Pyro torches the place.

she ends up going to the final battle, Ms Marvel is one of the many mutants part that make up Magneto's army. And i also read somewhere that in the comics Rogue takes Ms Marvels powers on the golden gate bridge. UMMMM!! hELLO! Oppurtinity.

"Rogue attacked Carol in San Francisco and the pair fought atop the Golden Gate Bridge. When Rogue tried to use her power-absorbing abilities on Carol, something went terribly wrong, and she absorbed too much of Carol’s persona, making the transferal permanent. Driven mad by Carol’s thoughts and memories, Rogue threw Carol’s body from the bridge.pair fought atop the Golden Gate Bridge. And its probably an accident that she takes Ms Marvels powers, like she bumps into Ms Marvel and one thing leads to another, Rogue grabs her. Absorbs the power, and alittle personality, maybe participates in the curing of Magneto, or SAVING Gambit and flying him to safety when Phoenix starts going haywire (and while CYCLOPS goes to calm her down).

Because he would have been a cameo at best and people would have been *****ing about that too. Lose-lose situation.

Neat idea but you don't account for one thing: What would Remy be doing in line too?

he could be there with Pyro or or brotherhood follows to blow up the place, since in the original script he was one of the ones Magneto broke out of Prison

It's about attitude. Sam Raimi is much more fan friendly than the good folks who gave us X3 and actually is the kind of person who stay up late in bed reading the comics under the covers with a flashlight. Therefore, Spiderman fans got Venom, and we got cute lines like "I'm the Juggernaut, *****"

Ahh, ok. That could work then. As long as Rogue doesn't break up outright with Bobby that would give her the motivation for being in line. One thing I was troubled with, that surprised me was that Logan didn't try to stop her. He could have at least pointed out that there's some serious crap about to go down and that her help might be needed. That maybe she should let the Cure idea rest until they clean up the current mess with Jean and Magneto.

A reference/cameo ala Joker card in Batman Begins would have rocked the house. Mark my words.

Yeah but you can't go on in life thinking like that or you'll never get anything done.

Batman Begins shows you can do multiple characters justice. Heck even a c-villain like Victor Zsaz had an arc.Even if it his screen time was small.

I like that idea. Think i've heard others suggest it before.

Its actually-i think-one of the producers who told the writers to axe Gambit.Kind of sad really. I wanted to see Remy in one of the team movies.

I don't get it, so after what "would" have happened to Rouge she'd be able to touch people?

absorb power and memories but Carol Danvers got her powers absorbed... but rogue kept it.

I wouldn't make Gambit a big plot point in the movie. I'd just make him as someone Rogue goes to for comfort after she sees Bobby and Kitty's moment on the ice rink/fountain.

I'd make him have the same personality as in the comics, but just as another student in the school, the same age as Bobby.
