Hey Majik......I agree with you about Rogue.
My Magneto theory was if you wanted to give her her "permanent" super powers, as she has in the comics.
Magneto's control over electro-magnetism allows him to fly, create protective force shields ( which could translate to invulneribility ). And, I once read somewhere he could use his powers to magnify his strength. So, if Rogue absorbed his powers in X1, but the machine some how interfered with her absorption........then you could say it caused her to permanently absorb a variation of Magneto's powers......which manifested itself as super strength, flight, and invulnerability. That would be a "logical" movie-verse explanation of her powers.
But, the Danger Room sequence showed how Rogue would fight by temporarily absorbing her teammates' and enemies' powers. IMO, that would be more interesting that having another super-strong, flying character.
She would be a much more strategic and unpredictable fighter......and that would add welcome variety to a battle.
