Fantastic Four Animated Series Discussion

I'll definitely give this series a try. Should be interesting (maybe they'll use this series resurrect the Marvel Action Hour, but that's just a thought).

It seems ok im sure by the later episodes it should be real good like teen titans it didn't get good until the 2 part season final.

The cartoon show looks fine and i am sure it will be a success.

I am surprised CN picked up FF sense they cancelled megas,JLU<and TT because they said there a comedy channel now and action isn't what the kids want.

Here's an interview with the producers:

They're definitely saying the right things... especially:

Looking at the art released thus far from the series, you've obviously chosen a very mature style for a series that will primarily appeal to children. How do you quantify that? Why did you choose such a mature look for the series?

CK: When Moonscoop came in they had such an amazing vision for this. With all of our projects and you look at the 35+ years of animation, you want a show that's going to stand out because there's a chance you could see a different version of this series whether it be from the '60s, or the '80s or the '90s. We wanted a show that was really going to pop and look unlike anything else. This show looks nothing like its predecessors. It's a beautiful show. 80% of what Moonscoop brought to the table when they approached us made it in. The palette is spectacular. You'll see all sorts of Kirby-esque technology in and throughout the Baxter Building, whether it be the underbelly of Johnny's hot rod and then the gears of the machines they use or the beautiful lab they designed - this show really celebrates the best of what Kirby created when he blazed the trail with these characters. The look is somewhat anime in its inspiration, but again this came from the guys in France. What we found is - and you can see this in the model sheets - the expressions of these characters are so awesome. There's one sheet I just love which is all the faces of Ben. They way they bring all this great emotion to this big rocky character we just love. The look for this series we think will appeal to all kinds of kids, but again we want the older fans like me and Chris to sit down and really enjoy this. We think this style has great broad appeal.

Can we please add another spot in the FF forum to talk about the tv series? Spidey and X-Men have their respective "worlds" to discuss, I think it may be time to bring one on here.

I hate to transgress into geek mode, but Sue is fine as hell in this incarnation. :(

I have to admit, it looks actually pretty good.

I can't believe I forgot all about this!! I would have missed it if I hadn't seen an article on it. :csad:

I'm a bad dog. :csad:

I agree. I was surprised we never got a Products Forum either, with all the FF stuff that came out (with more stuff on the horizon)...

How 'bout it Cal, or C. Lee? Any chance on petitioning the powers that be on expanding the FF forums a bit?

:thing: :doom:

Yes...With the new cartoon premiering tonight and the second movie having just started filming, it might get a bit confusing.

As for this new cartoon: 10 minutes in and I don't hate it as much as I expected to. Then again I haven't had to see Ben's painted-on "4" yet.

But I do HATE Johnny's ridiculous hair. He looks like some kinda elf fairy or something.:down

And my kid's real ticked they're not using Doom in the first episode. The ads have shown a lot of Doom.

I saw the episode myself just a few minutes ago.Its better than i thought,i thought there would be a joking theme, like Teen Titans. But the episode was portrayed a bit better than i thought,i also hear the Hulk will make an appearence in a episode also.

Im open minded to continue to watch this cartoon.Ill be watching from now on.

What is with Johnny's chin coming to a perfect point?
With the elfin hairstyle and that chin...to me he looks a lot like Xandir P. Wifflebottom from "Drawn Together."

In fact, the new animated Johnny's chin is pointier.

I dig it. My draw dropped at the sight of Ronan. Love that guy. Glad to see him make an appearance. This show is really good. Suprisingly good. The art and animation are excellent, the writing itself is very much in vain of the Fantastic Four I read. In fact it's pretty indistinguishable...The way I see it, this was kind of a continuation of the movie universe with the way that they are already established yet are hearing about the Kree and Skrulls for the first time ever.

Johnny's sideburns have to freakin go though.

The first episode was pretty cool! Sue is kick ass in this incarnation. They mentioned the Skrulls as well. Very much looking forward to future episodes.

It was okay... The voices don't seem to match the faces and expressions. The way Johnny looked annoyed me. And... yeah..

I foresaw the backlash towards Johnny's sideburns MONTHS ago but nobody gave it a second thought.

I have a few problems with this toon but nothing that'll make me hate it as much as I did Teen Titans.

First off, did anybody else notice how the voices sometimes sounded like they were being sPoken into a tin can? I hope this is only exclusive to the one episode or a few only.

Second, Johnny's sideburns. Whatever. Hey, did anybody else think him and Sue were gonna stab each other with those daggerlike chins of theirs when they hugged?

Third, Kinda funny how nobody mentioned that for a so-called advanced race, the Cree were a bunch of bloodthirsty a-holes whose entire justice system was a joke. A throwaway line might have been nice.

Aside from that, this felt like too much of a filler episode to kick off the series. I suppose setting up for the Skrulls was a nice touch, but I would have rather seenn "Doomsday" as a starter.

I thought the animation was pretty good, and the designs looked a lot better in motion. I didn't care much for the tone of the show, it felt like it was dumbed down for the little kiddies with the bad jokes from Johnny, and the constant bickering between Sue and Reed. They didn't even seem like the FF with Sue being so freaked out about Johnny dissapearing, and Johnny being pretty much a useless idiot that gets the team into trouble instead of being a usefull member. I hope the show gets better, but that IMO wasn't the best episode to start with.
