Fantastic Four Animated Series Discussion

I only seen Trial By Fire so far, and it seems like the cartoon has some of the same problems of the movie... Too much emphasis on the comedic side. Plus why have people come to the conclusion that Sue Storm is supposed to be a bitsch?

As the only female of the group, it is cartoon law that she be a shrew in order to counter the other males and their lack of respect for her as a team member.:whatever:

Loved the new episode.Doom was great, but does anyone else get the feeling like they are going out of order. It feels like they already introduced Doom in a past episode.
Yeah i think they didn't play the pilot episode.

The cartoon is good, but im always reminded of how worse it can be.Marvel could have hired a poor studio to make the animation, but this is good.Considering how Marvel is today.

Crap! I cannot find the 2nd episode on torrent. Anyone know where I can download it?

The site says this...

I didn't care for the "anime'" approach they seem to be taking with the series. I hate anime'! But since it costs me nothing, I'll keep watching it and hope it improves. I would've liked the 1st episode to have been the origin story as well.

:wow: ! Have you ever even watched anime!? I am not one of those freaked out rabid anime fans that goes to conventions and stuff, but I've watched anime since I was little and have seen some good stuff, have you ever watched a show called Rurouni Kenshin? Or Trigun? Try it, you might like it, because its GOOD.

Johnny's 80's hair makes me laugh :oldrazz:

"Doomsday" was the intended pilot episode. I guess it's supposed to air next week now.

This episode would've been helped greatly by actually airing it in order, but yeah, it was still a pretty awesome episode. BIG step up over last week! I'm now actively looking forward to the show more. But I can't tell if Reed and Sue are supposed to be an item in this universe?

^Yeah, it's basically following the suit of the MTV Spider-Man and other cartoons based on movies, where the stuff that happened in the movie is alluded to on occasion.

Although, interestingly enough, Doom is wearing armor - not made of metal - and his powers are only weapons built INTO the armor... he doesn't just spray electricity or whatever. Plus, obviously, he's the ruler of Latveria. So at least they got Doom right. :)

I really think they captured all the comics well. They sort of did a mix between regular universe FF and Ultimate universe FF. A good inbetween. Reed is kind of milk-toast towards his wife...but when it comes to dealing with aggressive alien species...he has that Reed character. Especially when he says "Is this how your kind meets new alien races?????!!!" Or something along that lines.

It's a great comic show. :) It's got all the humor of the comics with all the great action and the animation is pretty good too.

If someone at Cartoon Network would be kind enough to give me a buzz every Saturday to remind me to watch Lee & Kirby's creations further bastardized, I guess I'd watch.

Meh, i dunno....judging from the two episodes i've seen so far, i'd say there was a lot less bastardizing of Lee & Kirby going on here than there was in the live-action movie, and that's just down right sad, imo.

I really don't understand how the movie bastardized anything. Maybe Doom was changed a little, but not bastardized. Doom's real origin would've...taken quite a while and even then, it would be rather convenient, him showing up when they have powers.

Yeah i know i don't get why people are saying this. Some certain stuff just needs a update if its from a while back cause stuff back then might seem good but now it might seem bad and no translated to screen well.

Doom was made American instead of European in his vocals. Doom no longer rules a country, but instead runs a company in New York. Doom is now CORRECT to blame Reed for his disfigurement, as opposed to this blame being a misplaced thing caused by his incredible egotism. Doom has the hots for Susan. Doom is a metalman who shoots electricity out of his arms. Doom no longer speaks the way he's become so famous for. And on, and on, and on... at least he looked like Doom, but there was nothing else there similar. He's DINO.

Doom is European. He immigrated to America. Hence his boss's line about "Maybe you should go back to Latveria. The old country should do you some good.". That and they tried the accent. Apparantly Julian sounded ******ed so they cut it altogether. Basicly we would have ended up with the male equivalent of Storm from X1.

As for his powers, again, they wanted him in the movie and for it to make sense. They didn't want it to be "Hi. I'm Dr. Doom and I'll be your supervillain for the evening.". They'd have to go into the fact that he has his own country, doombots, that armor, why he hates Reed so much. It'd basicly become a Doom movie as opposed to a Fantastic Four movie. So instead they wrote it so that it was his origin movie as well. Setting up the rivalry. Setting up his hatred. Setting up everything all while still managing to have Doom as a villain. It's the next movie that he'll be in true Doom form because we already know of his hatred and arrogance and the lengths he'll go through to take out these guys.

I dunno - Fox execs thought he sounded stupid, yeah, but what do they know? Alba seems to think he pulled off the accent, but the Fox execs thought he sounded too silly, like Bela Lugosi. Even when he was doing a British accent, they didn't like it and demanded he go American. As for the rest, I've edited my post prior to your reply.

Frankly, the Corman F4 movie pulled off all of this within a 10-minute prologue with Reed and Victor at college. And without feeling rushed. If Corman can do it, surely people with far more money and alleged talent can do it.

I honestly agree that a prologue would have worked but I think they were trying to meld regular with Ultimate anyway (where it was basicly Doom's fault). They almost called him Victor Van Damme even...But as is, I'm still entertained by his character in the movie and I know he'll eventually become the one we know, we just get to see how he gets there is all, so hey, I'm not complainin.:yay:

Thank you.

Nevermind "wimpy hesitant Reed Richards",and "scientist Sue Storm"....

So far, the toon is FAR more reverent to Lee & Kirby, imo.

Anybody watching?
