And yes, I'm shocked that I did. The movie knows exactly what it wants to be and it's that. It's an expensive 80's B-movie, nothing more and nothing less. I only dislike loud nonsensical films that think that they are serious and good and this movie didn't. It was in on the joke.

The characters were fun, the action was great and the plot, although thin, was pretty decent and the movie actually had pretty darn good pacing. It's just fun, fun, fun. I had a smile on my face almost the whole time. I laughed, I cheered and I clapped. Finally an action movie thats not about Superheros and that harkens back to the action movies of yester year.

I'm happy this movie did big numbers and I hope it has half way decent legs because it deserves it.

Rating: 8.5 or 9 out of 10

i agree with this post. i think the same.

plus The Rock was a machine and a badass.

I friggin' LOVED this movie. Saw it on Sunday night, then came home to find out Bin Laden was killed, so I went downtown (I live in DC) and joined in the big celebration. It was like a massive adrenaline rush. Really looking forward to Fast Six or whatever they want to call it. The car chases (especially the last one) were phenomenal. And I loved the interaction between the characters. It was like Ocean's 11 as an action movie. The fight between Diesel and The Rock was great... it was like the fight we should have gotten in a movie back when Arnold and Stallone were in their prime.
 
i'm addicted to crack then. :dry: and I don't want help.
 
I wonder how much Justin Lin has made doing these films. I also hope he gets to branch out and make some other action films outside of the Fast and the Furious universe.
 
Me too. I was fully impressed with the direction of this film. The action scenes in particular were so sure handed. It's been a long time where I have a hard time picking one specific action scene that defines the movie, but all the action scenes in this film are so well coordinated, choreographed, edited, and best of all shot. The cinematography was money. Every huge shot, every action payoff got the coverage it deserved.
 
Well he is attached to the next Terminator film w/ Arnold in tow...

Its a packaged deal...they're simply looking to find a studio that's interested.
 
Saw it Monday cant wait for Six! I do eventually want a sequel that takes place after Tokyo Drift

Which would be perfect for Lin to extend an invitation for The Rock to be a Terminator of some sort. Arnold and The Rock in a scene...imagine the possibilities.

Oh yeah, my favorite action film of 2011 for now until Captain America comes out. Reuniting the cast made it hard to keep track of everybody, but they had great chemistry with each other. I got a kick out of all the unrealistic action scenes, particularly the stolen police car race then Vin Diesel playing it safe at the end.

The Rock Vs. Vin Diesel fight was tremendous and worth the price of admission alone! I hadn't been that into a cinematic brawl so much since Freddy Vs. Jason or Jason Statham Vs. Jet Li. The Rock really made his character memorable, it was a clever mix of his previous characters, Sarge and Driver. What really got me though is when he
killed the defenseless and severely injured Reyes, a.k.a. The Mexican James Woods, in cold blood!

I really enjoyed all the throwbacks to the old films, whether it was mentioning a past event or showing archive footage. I really hope Han
survived the explosion
in Tokyo Drift (I liked the foreshadowing during his drive before the credits) because like Charlie Nash from Street Fighter, he's too cool to be killed off!

Last, but not least. I LOVED the bonus scene! Enjoyed the double whammy
with Eva Mendes' cameo and as well as the revelation with Letty.
Never saw it coming! Remember Dave Kujan's reaction with the shocked look as well as dropping his drink when the twist occured in the Usual Suspects? I had the same exact reaction
when it was revealed that she is still alive
! Now I can go back and enjoy watching Fast and Furious again! As for Part Six in the series, bring it on!
 
Sorry to hijack this thread, but I was just wondering- is knowledge of the first four movies required to see this one? I'm not going to go see this in theaters, but hearing the incredibly good WOM and solid critical reaction I'll be highly tempted to netflix this once it comes out on video. I have absolutely zero interest in seeing the first four, though.
 
Each character is from a previous movie. You won't know how they all met / know each other & you would not get the whole back story with Brian being former FBI. The opening scene of this movie takes place right after the fourth one also & you would not even know the chick in the end credits scene as she is also from a previous movie
