I HOPE BEFORE ONE OF US DIES, MY FATHER AND I WILL FINALLY BREAK DOWN THE COLD BARRIER BETWEEN US. WE ALWAYS HAD MORE OF A "PROFESSIONAL" RELATIONSHIP, SINCE I GREW UP WORKING FOR HIM.......FOR ALMOST 15 YEARS.......SO THINGS BECAME KINDA AWKWARD BETWEEN US AS I GOT OLDER, AND MOVED ON WITH MY LIFE.

Yeah...right before he calls me a sissy and smacks the **** outta me.

My Dad and I have a great relatioonship. I can be very open with him and can tell him how I feel. I love my Dad.

Yeah me and my dad have a great relationship and we've helped each other out a lot. Him and my mum have just went through a bad seperation but we've helped each other out through it. He also gets along well with my boyfriend, so that's all good! I love my dad. :)

THAT'S GREAT, 'TW'. JUST MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THOSE LINES OF COMMUNICATION OPEN, AS YOU GET OLDER. YOU'RE JUST NOW AT THAT AGE, WHEN ALOT CAN CHANGE IN YOUR LIFE.......IN A HURRY. ;)

Me and my Dad get along great. With the usually bumps and scrapes that come with raising a teenager.

We both share alot of the same interests so it is easy to talk about stuff.

That's what I hear, but as I keep getting challenges in my life, I feel that my Dad will always be there for me to help. He's not only my Dad, but my friend too.

My Dad & I have an okay relationship. The only thing we have in common is that we love Bruce Lee & we love watching UFC & Pride Fighting.

I'm thinking about taking him to lunch for Father's Day, but I have no clue where I'm going to take him.

Why would I openly communicate with my dad now? I'm a grown man--we don't do that.

GEE.....HOW MACHO OF YOU. :down:rolleyes:

Yeah, Dad used to be the strong silent type, and still is, but I'm the same way. We go to movies and play pool on occasion, but neither of us is that talkative. Each of us knows what's up though.

Since leaving for college, whenever I return home; I realize that I have less and less in common with both of my parents. It sux cuz I'd love to have an "awesome relationship" with them but I find myself at a loss of what to say to them because they kinda bore me now. :(

Me and my dad have lot's of fun we allways love to make fun out of our mum and other peopole we know.

^You're bored with the folks that bumped uglies sans a condom to give you life?

i hear that. i mean, i'm only 22, but i can see our relationship going that way if things keep down the road they're on now.

it's like, my dad can tell everyone else in the world how proud of me he is, working for him, except for me. grr!

Heh, yeah. They don't do anything. I'm also a bit of a thrill seeker and easily bored and they're just workaholics and....gardeners. Zzzzzzzz

:p That is funny to hear.

I don't go to my parents for "thrills". They don't really "do" anything either.

But they did bring me into the world and waste all their cash and time on bringing me up.

Unless there are any special circumstances, it's worth putting in the effort to find common interests or to just get along as best as possible.

Yeah, but they're content doing whetver they do, which isn't much. Since it's a Father's Day thread; I'll pick my dad. He watches CNN, trims hedges, and might watch wrestling if my siblings and I catch him in a right mood.

I will do nothing. My dad is a stupid drunk and I don't want anything to do with him. In fact now that's it is fathers day, I feel discomfort because I'm reminded of him.

I can't really tell him how I feel, but man he sure is.

"Did you return Quake 4...... damn now I have no cool games to play, I think I'll just sit here and play some Call of Duty 2, the same game Ive been at for 6 months. You ever play that G.R.A.W? I heard it was ok, but you should rent it or something..... isnt it Tom Clancy, I love Tom Clancy."

Hey at least men make it obvious.
