In theory, kind of sweet.

In reality, she's screwed. No guy in this day and age will want to marry someone they've never kissed. I know it sounds cruel, but that's how most guys are these days. Waiting to have sex until marriage? That's fine. But going without kissing is asking a lot from a guy. Sad, but true.

Hey, I'm all for girls or even guys who want to to wait until marriage to consummate their relationship. More power to them especially the will power involved in such as stance.

In reality, I would think that it's much harder to practice what you speak, for example Young Emily who is 18 and never been away to college and I'm pretty much guessing never had a boyfriend. I wouldn't use the word "naive" per se, but she's almost in for a culture shock the first time the opportunity is there.

Why is the act of sex still being overvalued in this manner?

Except for the producer of these advertising campaigns, who does it truelly benefit?

We should be teaching people to not be afraid or shamed to have sex but to make sure they are ready when they do and they wear the proper protection and are safe and happy.

ANy sex these people have before their wedding will bring them shame and regret and they will lack the proper sexual education because they will feel that they dont need it because they aren't having it.

If anything, how can you know the difficulty or commitment to not having sex for a while till you are with the right person until you know what it is like with the wrong person? How can you verify it's the right person at all.

It's a shame someone is making money out of young girls making pointless commitments to things they truelly have no understanding of.

The whole thing sounds like a sham to me. If the purpose of the balls are to strengthen the bond between father daughter relationships why even have the purity pledge? And if the emphasis is on sex there is NO reason a 4 year or even a 7 year old girl should be there, because they have absolutly no understanding of what it is their signing.

I know during my college career there were quite a few girls who came to college really sheltered and naive and either went completly wild when they got here, or they couldn't handle it and had to go back home...

I'm all for protecting people and believe that you should wait untill the time is right for you, (not because you're pressured or because some *****e tells you he loves you). But signing your sexuality away to your dad untill your dad gives you away to your husband...thats just outrageous.

I bet these fathers are not trying to get their sons to pledge their virginty to until their married. Its kind of a double standard to expect your daughters to be Pure but not yours sons.

In this day and age as well alot of relationships are not gonna last if people do not have some sexual knowledge. People will have affairs if they don't feel sexual fulfilled.

Sex should be a taboo if it didn't happen none of us we be here. Fathers should be teaching their daughters to do it when they think they are ready and with someone they care about.

Well, I'm speaking from experience, since I know a few guys who date simply for the making out and sex, not so much the person. That's the sad part.

She may be an idiot, that's definitely possible. But if they're having 6 or 7 year old girls go to these balls, they're being raised to think that sex and kissing are only for "the one", and, I believe, are being sheltered from finding that this can't be the case.
