Gulmira > Stark Expo > Malibu mansion > Monaco Grand Prix > Air Force One > Miami shipyard > Iron Man vs Iron Monger > Mark I cave escape

None of the other scenes are truly Iron Man action. Honestly the best balance of action overall was probably seen in IM3, it was nearly non-stop. But that does not make a movie great.

EDIT: I was just thinking how global the Iron Man series has been.

IM1: California, Afghanistan
IM2: New York, Monaco
Avengers: Germany, New York
IM3: California, Miami, Tennessee

The action in IM3 was weak and inconstant. There was a lot of it but it was a big nothing burger.

1) Iron Legion/Roxxon Norco attack
2) Air Force One rescue
3) Iron Man in Gulmira
4) Iron Man vs. War Machine
5) Black Widow vs. Hammer security
6) IM Mark I escapes The Cave
7) IM vs. F-22 Raptors
8) Malibu Mansion attack
9) Tony/Harley vs. Savin/Brandt in Rose Hill, TN
10) Iron Man vs. Iron Monger

I could totally do without Whiplash at all.

Im2 war machine and iron man vs drones / whiplash

Im3 Iron legion vs extremis soldier

Im1 guilmera scene/ iron man vs F22 raptors

I guess I'm one of the very few that never cared for the climax of IM2. Never saw the drones they were fighting as any threats or even cared that much cause they were drones.

I don't see them as any different than the Chituari in Avengers or the extremis lava lamp men in IM3. They're character-less foot soldiers there as cannon fodder. Essentially in all 3 films they are just an extension of the main villain.

Well but in both Marvel's The Avengers and Iron Man 3 you see the heroes struggling to fight the villains. In MTA, Black Widow gets exhausted, Hawkeye runs out of arrows and almost dies, Iron Man gets swarmed, Captain America gets hurt... In Iron Man 3 Tony pregressively loses suits that get ripped apart until the point he's armor-less, cornered by the villian.

In Iron Man 2, it was 2 minutes of Stark and Rhodes firing their weapons, not even Vanko was much of a threat.

Well, considering that in IM3 his suits seem to suddenly be made of tinfoil, it's no suprise that he had a tough time. But even so, it was really Jarvis fighting them for a good part of the battle. Yeah, that's what I wanted to see.:whatever::doh:

The thing is that it just wasn't done in an exciting way for me outside of a couple of things.

So I suppose that Tony fighting toe on toe with Killian and both damaging each other (in Stark's case, the suits) was also JARVIS fighting.

I voted for the final fight from IM3. Literally every card is on the table - Tony, Rhodes, Pepper, JARVIS, every suit, bad guy, and henchmen. It showcased the culmination of what Tony's achieved in his capabilities and tactics, using all the tools he has at his disposal to win. There are others that have their own special components, but I just had to go with the last fight.

I just can't decide between Iron Legion & Iron Man vs Extremis Soldier/Killian & Iron Man vs Stane!

Agreed. Honestly all the action scenes in IM 3 tie as my favourite of the trilogy but also my favourite(s) of any of the Marvel Movie Universe to date primarily, especially the final battle with Killian, because I actually felt a genuine sense of jeopardy for the good guys. As 'comic book brought to life' exciting as the drone fight in IM2 or the New York battle in TA last year are they were effectively one sided whereas, and this is Shane Black at his best, despite the humour I actually got tense at certain points.

"Iron Legion & Iron Man vs Extremis Soldier/Killian"

I've seen it twice now and that scene is epic but it really does matter where you sit in the theatre. I sat close the first time I saw it and that's a mistake. Everything gets jumbled and a lot is missed. Sitting father back, I enjoyed that scene so much more.

I sat up close as well because those were the only seats available, I'll be sure to sit further back next time.

Thanks for the tip bro

I agree and I attribute that to the fact that Iron Man's "new suits" were all prototypes. None of those suits seems nearly as tough as the suits he used in IM, IM2, and The Avengers.

I'm in the minority probably but the Gauntet/boot sequence versus Killians Henchmen was my favorite. I thought it was expertly choreographed

The IM3 final battle is easily the best action piece of the entire trilogy and has a strong sense of ranking up there with some of The Avengers best fight scenes.

I don't know why, because I'd easily rank it as one of the top 5 actions bits of the trilogy.

Mine is the battle between the Iron Legion and the Extremis soldiers. It was awesome to finally see a large hall of armors. It was cool to see Stark swapping between different types of armors. My second would be Iron Man and War machine vs the drones and Whiplash. It was badass to see Stark and Rhodey fighting side by side. The cinematography was awesome as well with the slow rotating camera. I just love the smart minigun attached to War Machine. Despite the anti-climatic fight against Whiplash, it was still cool overall.

It had the best movements and imagination of any hand-to-hand(if u can call it that) fight scene in recent CBMs IMO.

Cap/Batman fight choreographers should take notice.

I definately agree with this, hell I hope all future Marvel Studios films take notice.

I actually think they've got Hulk and Thor down as far as fighting style is concerned. Now all they have to do is amp up their power levels and broaden the scopes of their attacks a little bit.

The hand to hand for Cap and Batman just left me completely unimpressed. These guys are supposed to be top class fighters but they mostly fought like street-brawlers. No advanced martial arts, very little fluidity and quickness in their movements. The guys from The Raid: Redemption would have destroyed them in a fight..lol

I thought the Iron Legion fight was too chaotic and not shot particularly well.

Out of the options I like the Iron Man in the Middle East and against the F-22 bit the best but it is largely a curb stomp.

Iron Man's best action sequence however thus far is definitely his showing in Avengers.

I thought the best action scene of the trilogy was easily the entire Gulmira sequence. The impact of seeing Iron Man in the real suit for the first time, the modulated voice, etc. It was perfect. Wouldn't change a thing.

I enjoyed a couple above all else, for me its a tie between IM2's Iron Man/War Machine vs. Hammer Drones and Whiplash, like was said in a earlier post, the audiance went wild when Tony used the lasers.
And IM3's Iron Legion/Tony/Rhodes & Pepper vs Killian and his Extremis Soldiers, it was an awesome sight seeing all those armors come and surround the Roxxon ship, as powerful as the armors were, it showed the abilities of Extremis.
Other ones that I think of is from the first film when Iron Man goes back to Afghanistan, when he targeted the ten ring terrorists who were holding the hostiages and killed them with the mini missiles, the audiance went crazy when that happened, and the Monaco fight between Stark and Vanko, the introduction of the suitcase armor was very cool.

Thor's close combat fighting style is down pact, but his "powers usage" leaves something to be desired. He's the God of Thunder yet he hardly ever uses weather related attacks other than occasional lighting.

I'd like to see Mjolnir being charged with lighting during combat, hurricanes, tornadoes, and maybe even ice storms. Oh I'd also like to see non weather related powers like Thor's "thermo blast" or even the "God Blast".
