The Green Guy has had 3 animated series over the years, and rumors always turn up about another being on the way. Out of the 3 which is your fav and why?

1966

The animation may have been very primitive (they looked like sliding pictures from the comic), and the voice acting may have been funny at times, but you really couldn't get much more faithful to the comic than this. Some of the scenes looked lifted right off of the page, and the stories were often stright from the comic. In fact, check out the origin episode. It brought Hulk to the masses that otherwise wouldn't know who he was. Plus, it had a very catchy, albeit inappropriately silly, theme song.

1982

When the live action TV show ended in '82, a lot of kids thought they were losing the Hulk from TV. But this wasn't the case. He simply slid over to Saturday mornings in front of Spider-man and his Amazing Friends..and this time it was something much closer to the comic. We had most of the primary Hulk characters, including Betty, who now is a research scientist working alongside Bruce (that idea seems to be one that is sticking around). It had great music and voice work...and Stan the Man was the narrator for the show. That couldn't have worked out better, right? Even the strories were well written as they emphasized that Banner hated being the Hulk and Hulk was about as fond of being Banner. But, there was one very peculiar thing, however. For some inexplicable reason, Bruce's clothes would reapear when he changed back from being the Hulk!

Talk about a star driven voice cast! Shadow Stevens as Doc Samson, Luke Perry as Rick Jones, and Lou Freakin Ferrigno as Hulk himself! The animation was decent too. This one took a cue from the Spider-man and X-men animated series, and like the '66 show, tried to incorporate some of more important and fan favorite stories from the comic. They explored the seperation of Hulk and Banner as well as brought in a Gray Hulk. In fact, in one episode he went to Vegas as Mr. Fixit. On the downside, the writers on the show tried at times to give it a spoof like sense of humor, which may not have worked so well. It was really evident when the second season permanently changed the show title to...The Incredible Hulk and She-Hulk. One episode had them try to defeat Leader at a fashion show. :wow:

I grew up watching the 1982 series and loved it but I really love the 1996 cartoon aswell, I can't make a choice.....I'll have to go for 1982.

Mods, I put this in the Spoilers board because we do not have a Hulk World board....just one for the first Hulk movie.
Plus..honestly no one would see it in there.
Thanks

I also love the theme music for the 1982 show!

I also love the theme music for the 1982 show!

Yeah, all of the music for the '82 toon was just great. They always knew how to time the music at the appropriate moments too.

80's Hulk all the way. I grew up with it, but it's also the better show. Great animation, stories, Stan Lee, etc...

why is this in the ang lee thread?!?! i know it was movied by a mod, but why here? doesn't make any sense. there isn't a catch all hulk forum, so it should at least be put back in the incredible hulk board, ya know...where there's actual traffic.

^^ yup I vote for this thread being moved back to the spoiler section...this thread will help us get hyped for the movie!...

anyways I have to go with the '96 show only cuz that's the only one I watched so yeah I'm biased....:o
plus I never heard of the Hulk b4 this show (..limited sources bak then)...and it was only after this series that I started reading Hulk comics...

1966 for me. This ran in repeats throughout the late 60's and i remember watching it as a toddler, and just thinking it was the coolest thing ever. Sure, it had shoddy animation, and average voice work, but it has huge sentimental value for me.

:bh:

i'm still a fan of the 1982 show.. even with the "clothes-return" morph aside.. :)

that show had the best music, IMO..

I want all the eps of all the shows to come out on american DVD... it is the height of stupidity that they have not come out in box sets yet...

they can call it Incredible Hulk Anthology: 60s - 90's.. get some commentaries from comics people, maybe some of the producers/writers on the 'toons...

Love the '66 series. It's about the only non-print incarnation that the CB-purest whiners can't take to task since the stories are essentially straight off the comic page, and the art, too. Memorable theme song... yes, it's dopey, but ya gotta admit, it's catchy!

Loved '82 Hulk series.

Never saw the 90's series. :(

Let's hope if the film does well some folks out there will snatch these up and release them onto DVD soon!!!!!!!

They are all coming out on DVD, but only on Region 2, sorry.

Well THAT smells!!:cmad:

Can you point us to some release info for these on the web somewhere? I'm sure some folks here have region-free DVD players, and there are those among us on these boards who live outside the US, and I'm sure they'd like to know how to get their greedy little paws on them. (I know I would!:csad:)

Still hoping these shows will see R1 release if the film does monster B.O. And especially if it warrants a sequel. Distributors will be looking to get their hands on anything Hulk-related to jump on the green bandwagon for the next film - if this one does well.

I think the '82 series reminds me most of Sal Buscema era Savage hulk from the comics...in the way he acts, looks and speaks. I think that is another reason it is my favorite.

The '82 Hulk animated series gets my vote. For sentimental reasons.

The '96 Hulk animated series comes in at a close second.

And the '66 show was pretty fun too. Just not a favourite for me like the other two.

I really never saw the 1982 show. I'm interested though.
I loved the 90's toon. The opening title was awesome.

The 1996 Hulk was best. IMO it had the best animation.
