My favorite chapters would probably be Chapters IV and IX. I love Jon's back story and how the dialogue compliments the imagery so perfectly.

I like chapter IX because of Doc manhattans speech about the existence of life and all that, and the revelation that Laurie has at the end. The buildup to the revelation is amazing.

So what is/are your favorite chapter(s)?

IV: Watchmaker for the superb writing, with overlapping time and great characterisation of Doc. Manhattan. Terrific artwork in specifically the last three pages or so when he creates the glass castle.

VI: The Abyss gazes also. Because I Think Rorschach is the most interesting character of all the book. Best part with the kidnapper of Blaire Roche. Truly chilling how Rorschach finds out what happend to her. It also provides a very bleak insight into human nature. ''It is not God who kills the children. Not fate that butchers them or destiny that feeds them to the dogs. It's us. Only us.''

A tie between Rorschach's chapter and Dr. Manhattan's chapter. So, basically, what Carmine said.

VI: The Abyss gazes also. I think carmine is right with how interesting rorschach's character is (see my name? yeah.) I think his sotry is so sad and emotional, when i told my sister about the short short part where we see walter as a little kid and his mom is hitting him and hes apoligizing made her cry. i just told her about those short number of frames and she just started bawlin. ("HES JUST A LITTLE KID!!!!" she said.) Its really powerful and the end with mal talking about what we see when we die is so brilliant. its in my opinion the most human chapter of all of them.

The chapter where they break out Rorschach.

Watchmaker was my favorite chapter.

Beautifully written.

I'm reading it now for the first time, I'm near the end of Chapter five.
And yes Dr. Manhattan has me very intrigued. I found myself thinking about the book more during my work day since I've gotten more detail on him.

There are just so many layers and I have to read back at times cause I'm thinking about something else and it over laps and....well, it's all very well worth it.

I think WATCHMAKER is the chapter I am thinking of. The one where it jumps through time with the photograph and Jon on mars. Most amazing synthesis of words and pictures ever. Prime art form.

Okay, I'm in chapter IX, I've put it down so I can read it later with a clearer mind.

I think the best part of VI was the psychiatrist at the end: "I sat on the bed. I looked at the Rorschach blot. I tried to pretend it looked like a spreading tree, shadows pooled beneath it, but it didn't. It looked more like a dead cat I once found, the fat, glistening grubs writhing blindly, squirming over each other, frantically tunneling away from the light. But even that is avoiding the real horror. The horror is this: in the end, it is simply a picture of empty meaningless blackness. We are all alone. There's nothing else".

Chapter V: Fearful Symmetry is the most ingenious chapter, I think. It's the perfect example as to why the comic medium was the perfect way to tell this story. If you compare the front of the chapter to then end, you'll notice the panel layout is symmetrical, as are the characters on the page (for the most part.) I'm sure many of you already know this, I just think it's insanely cool.

I loved Watchmaker.

Great writing, great art, greatness.

Yeah, Jon's origin/flashback chapter is by far my favorite.

Kinda makes you wish they'd done this as a mini-series, huh?

Watchmaker. When I first read the book, the moment I finished that chapter I went back and read it again.

IV: Watchmaker

An obviouse choice as Dr Manhattan for me was a great glimpse into how it would feel like to view time in a non linear way. Incredible. God like even.

I. At Midnight, All The Agents...
This one is one of my favorites because it's the one that catapaulted us into the world of "Watchmen". This is the chapter that got us captivated.

II. Absent Friends
I love it because it gives us glimpses of the Comedian's past.

IV. Watchmaker
Not much to say that hasn't already been said. Who doesn't love this chapter?

VI. The Abyss Gazes Also
Probably my favorite chapter of the book. Everything about Rorschach just fascinates me.

VII. A Brother To Dragons
I'm partial to this one because Dan is one of my favorite characters.

VIII. Old Ghosts
Oh man, the prison break, Rorschach's banter with Big Figure's gang, the death of Hollis Mason...all awe-inspiring stuff.

X. Two Riders Were Approaching...
If only because I loved seeing Nite Owl and Rorschach team up.

Err...yeah, that's half the book right there. :o
