Favorite Robin Williams Movie.

Family: Jumanji
Comedy: Death to Smoochy
Drama: One Hour Photo

The hate that Death to Smoochy got truly bewilders me. Williams is a laugh riot in it.

"You better grow eyes on the back of your ****ing head, you horned piece of ****. Because I'm not gonna sleep until worms are crawling up your foam rubber ass. Going on safari, mother****er. SA-FA-RI. *Elephant noise*"

Gold.

Yeah, I don't know why so many people dislike Smoochy. I thought it was kind of brilliant.

For whatever reason, Gen Xers dislike Hook. I as a Gen Yer, loved it. I think most of my genertauon love it too. It's one of those weird generational movie that really tests it's legacy by time.

A good example is, if I'm not mistaken, the original Willy Wonka, was liked but wasn't looked as a classic back in the 80's and 90's. But now, it's seen as a must see for any childhood.

The Birdcage. Just hysterical. Even my fairly conservative grandma loved that movie.

I'm a Hook and Popeye fan. His early days were really good. And Good Morning America too, being a war enthusiast.

There are so many. Starting with Hook, I think I saw all of his movies in the theaters until about Good Will Hunting. Such a big part of my youth, and then into my early twenties, going back and watching his stand up and later roles. I keep trying so hard to type out a favorite film, but then it turns into three. Then I can't stop thinking about everything he's been in and I'd end up listing his whole career. I just can't believe in retrospect how much he's really touched me. For all that, I'm going to bring it back to the first movie I ever saw him in when I was six years old, one that just encapsulates the best of what I remember it was like to be a child: Hook.

:(

Favourite of his filmography: Jumanji
Favourite performance: Patch Adams

Overall favourite: Aladdin

Popeye.Loved it as kid,still in my top 5 all time favorite films.
Aladdin.Probably his definitive performance.
Hook.My sister was a big Peter Pan fan and played this one to death!I enjoyed it too.
Good Will Hunting.His Oscar was well deserved.
Dead Poets Society.Carpe Diem

Probably my top 5 right there.

The movie I really liked that doesn't get much attention is The World According to Garp. It's a quirky movie with heart. It was also my introduction to Glenn Close and John Lithgow. If you're a fan of Robin Williams, you should check it out.

Hook, Awakenings, Mrs. Doubtfire, Bicentennial Man

Watching Aladdin now. What a blast!

There are just so many to choose from. Mork & Mindy was one of my favorite TV shows as a kid. Popeye came out at the same time as he was playing Mork, so that has a special place in my heart as well (even if it wasn't all that well received and Robin himself was somewhat embarrassed by it). A true favorite out of all of his films is incredibly difficult to decide. I suppose I would have to break it down into film categories, and even then it would be tough. Off the top of my head, though, I'd break it down like this:

Comedy = Mrs Doubtfire

Dramedy = Good Morning Vietnam

Animated = Aladdin

Action = Hook

Drama = Good Will Hunting

Horror/Thriller = One Hour Photo

Stand Up = An Evening At The Met (his routine on drugs and alcohol is one of my all time favorites)

That's about all I can think of at the moment.

Rest In Peace Robin Williams. You will truly be missed.

Popeye
Good Will Hunting
Good Morning Vietnam
Dead Poet Society

One Hour Photo and Insomnia stick out. Also Jumanji.

I'm a Generation Xer and it's one of my favorite movies. I don't know anyone in my age group who doesn't like it. My sister just introduced it to my nephew a few months ago, and loves it now too.

I remember it wasn't all that well received when it first came out, but time's been really good to that one.

And Willy Wonka was definitely a must-see when we were kids. My friend's 40th birthday was actually themed after it. I think we're the generation who started showing the movie to our kids.

I don't know how I didn't wear out my VHS copy of Hook when I was a kid. To this day, I still don't care that the crocodile scene doesn't make sense.

Another good one to check out is Dead Again. It was an uncredited role, and he only had about 3 scenes, but he was great in that. It’s really good movie too.

Aladdin.
Mrs. Doubtfire.
One Hour Photo.
Hook.
Jumanji.
Insomenia.

I also thought he was funny as Batty in Ferngully as well.

Man, am I that old, only one other person mentioned Popeye. Also, maybe not a movie, but Mork and Mindy!

Me too. I loved Mork and Mindy when I was little, I think it was probably my first favorite TV show as a kid.

And I saw Popeye in the theater. Twice. :yay:

Aladdin
Good Morning Vietnam
Moscow On The Hudson
The World According to Garp
Fisher King
Dead Poets Society
Insomnia
Happy Feet
Jumanji
The Bird Cage

Mrs. Doubtfire

Agreed he's wonderful in his cameo in Dead Again. He's enjoyable even in movies I don't much like such as Popeye and Hook. Even more than in movies or as Mork his genius was never more on display than in his stand-up.

Nanu Nanu Robin
