Favorite Robin Williams Movie.

I still hate having to talk about him in the past tense.

It's going to take a while to get use to. I don't think it's really set in that he's gone.

i need to re-watch the fisher king sometimes. one of williams' most underrated gems.

I just finished watching the first two seasons of Mork & Mindy on You Tube. I was going to borrow some Robin Williams movies from the library and have a movie marathon on my day off. Unfortunately everyone else in town seems to have had the same idea, because by the time I got there, every last Robin Williams movie had been taken out or reserved. I'm thinking of buying some instead. There's a used DVD store downtown which sells movies for pretty cheap (generally about $5 each) and has a special where if you buy three movies you get a forth for free. Maybe grab a copy of Mrs Doubtfire, Hook, Aladdin, and Good Morning Vietnam.

The Birdcage will always be a personal favorite of mine.

I think it's cool that he explicitly asked to play the more low-key of the two roles and still managed to be great in it. The "F*** the shrimp" scene was gold.

Have y'all seen these comments by Spielberg?

In a 2011 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Spielberg talked about what he thought worked and what didn't work: "There are parts of Hook I love. I'm really proud of my work right up through Peter being hauled off in the parachute out the window, heading for Neverland. I'm a little less proud of the Neverland sequences, because I'm uncomfortable with that highly stylized world that today, of course, I would probably have done with live-action character work inside a completely digital set. But we didn't have the technology to do it then, and my imagination only went as far as building physical sets and trying to paint trees blue and red". Spielberg gave a more blunt assessment in a 2013 radio show appearance: "I wanna see Hook again because I so don't like that movie, and I'm hoping someday I'll see it again and perhaps like some of it."

Seems a shame he isn't happy with the film.:(

Even if he wasn't happy with the product, I'm sure he loved working with Robin. His dislike of the film, it seems to me, stems with unhappiness with his own work on the movie.

Yeah I doubt he disliked working with Robin. I think you'd have to be dead inside and a real curmudgeon to not enjoy working with Robin. I just know Hook has fans here and was wondering if y'all knew Spielberg's feelings about the film. It wont change how I feel about the film. Just something I found interesting, and made me kinda sad that Spielberg wants to like it but can't seem to enjoy the film.

The Coen brothers don't outright dislike The Big Lebowski, but they think it's one of their lesser works.

I love Hook, but his displeasure with the sets is valid imo. It's probably one of Spielberg's weaker efforts on a production level. The pirate town Lost Boys dwelling look and feel very much like sets most of the time. Williams and Hoffman carry the entire film.

I like the look of the film. It's a product of its time and imo Neverland and the sets have a fairytale quality to them.

I just went on a DVD buying binge, picking up Hook, Jumanji, Mrs Doubtfire, Robin Williams: Live On Broadway, Good Will Hunting, and Dead Poets Society.

Yeah, it also breaks my heart when Speilberg talks about his disappointment with 'Temple of Doom', my favorite Indy movie (*favorite but not the best. The best is 'Raiders'). I wonder what he thinks of 'Doom' now after 'Crystal Skull'. There are points in that movie that seemed worst than the Star Wars prequels. I'll take Jar Jar over Shia swinging in the jungle with CG monkeys against a fake looking jungle.

He said he's proud of Crystal Skull.

Oh, and that Jar Jar/Shia swining comment:

they're both bad. Actually, I hate Boss Nass even more. Awful character.

Good Morning Vietnam
Hook
The Birdcage

I haven't seen Insomnia yet, but it's now on the list.

Hands down Good Will Hunting.

For nostalgic reasons I could have gone with Hook, Jumanji or Aladdin just aswell. Hook and Jumanji are maybe not that good per se, but the nostalgia factor is through the roof, they're part of my childhood, what the **** am i gonna do?

He was gold during the entire dinner scene. It always makes me laugh. "Agador" "Spartacus!!!!" "Agador Spartacus"

Him and Robin Williams have been friends for years. Spielberg even gave him a voice cameo in A.I. as Dr. Know.

How weird that I've never watched Good Morning Vietnam. I have to make it a point to do that this week. I'd say Mrs Doubtfire is a great showcase for Robin Williams. There's been so many good ones. As a child I would of said Popeye or Hook. I loved those films as a kid.

There are actually a few Williams movies I've had yet to see. Some of those I do want to see, but admittedly, as much as everyone has been praising and referencing it, I just have no desire to watch The Dead Poet's Society. I think I watched some of it either on TV a long time ago or in school... pass.

I recommend World's Greatest Dad for anyone. It's hard to watch (especially now) but Robin Williams gives one of his best final performances.

Just saw The Angriest Man in Brooklyn. Not horrid but very off putting.

I used to have the musical soundtrack to Good Morning Vietnam on audio cassette. Unfortunately it went missing when I had to move a few years ago. I'll have to buy it on CD sometime soon, and the movie to go with it.
