I know people like to put him the Michael Bay category, but I confess I do enjoy the stuff he puts out, even if he does like spectacle. There are some genres that he is just suited for, others he isn't....but the man goes all out when he does. Independence Day is a favorite, as is....The Patriot.

Independence Day. It get's some stick, but I like it.

Roland Emmerich was about 50 years too late to be involved with Gojira -- he was however Executive Producer/Director on the 1998's Godzilla from Sony.

That said, I may like Independence Day the best even though it was an uncredited remake of The War of the Worlds. But The Patriot and Stargate are close behind at the very least -- although I don't believe that the story of Stargate really came into it's own until Stargate SG-1 came along.

I was going to pick Day after Tomorrow, but chose Universal Soldier.

Universal Soldier & Godzilla. Independence Day & Stargate are my second favs of his films.

I'm trying to think of a property that he would be suited for, considering he already did the deed with Godzilla.

The last opton in the poll for me.

I mildly enjoyed some of his movies but i haven't check none of them twice...one of my least favorite directors.

"Independence Day", then "The Patriot". I hate everything else he's done.

independence day... i was silly.. but it was suppossed to be

I thought The Patriot was pretty good, everything else has been complete trash though. I somewhat disagree with the Michael Bay comparison, sure they're both more about effects than the story, but Michael Bay's movies just seem better, more well produced, his explosions are like art at times. Emmerich's movies just feel like a lame imitation, Emmerich is like Poison to Michael Bay's Motley Crue.

I voted for one of the best Van Damme movies going, "Universal Soldier" :woot:

ID4.

His Godzilla was just terrible.

Who the heck clicked "10,000 BC"? That thing was wretched!

Haha, I just saw ID4 on FX the other night, it still cracks me up. Jeff Goldblum just has to talk, and it's funny.

Independence Day and The Patriot

I confess I like Godzilla.

I voted the last option. When I was 7 I LOVED independence day but when you rewatch it, it had aged TERRIBLY and is a pretty bad film. His best film would probably be The Patriot and that was just okay...nothing special. I was REALLY looking forward to The Day after Tomorrow , right before it was released...but that was a huge disappointment. And 2012 looks like The day after tomorrow 2, complete with gigantic tidal waves and all :o

ID4... I'd quite like him to do The Avengers, actually.

Ugh... the guy pretty much sucks but I do like Stargate and Independence Day. Though I doubt I could ever watch either of them again all the way through.

Not an awful director, but I lost a lot of respect for him after 10,000 B.S.
