The penguin gets an easy win for me. I love the Returns version of the character. Joker is 2nd though

I hated Penguin in Returns. I really hated everything about him. Appearance, background, mutation, plot, penguin army etc. Joker and Catwoman were the highlights for me.

OH COME ON!!!!!!!!!!
i tought this was a poll for every villain in the comics and so i voted in joker, poison ivy, two face and bane, DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hated the last 3 in the mvies!!!!
I prefered the joker and the penguin

Jack's Joker was terrific, he's always the one highlight from this old series. But I felt Penguin and Catwoman were both very dimensional characters that certainly brought more pathos than Joker did.

What about Max Shriek?

The greatest comic book film villain specifically created for a film....EVER!

He's an acquired taste. If you're used to comic book Penguin with his style and elegance, then DeVito's Penguin is a far cry from that.

Personally I loved DeVito's Penguin. He was a sick twisted monster who happened to love umbrellas and penguins.

I loved him too:woot:
I think penguin was great in the movie and even if he was a monster i kinda felt sorry for him some times

It hard to choose really. I mean, surely nothing from Schumacher's movies. Schumacher's villains were completely one dimensional and just over the top to that. One dimensional is perfectly fine, but at least do something that isnt so completely OTT. Two Face only cackled and giggled and acted like a ******ed cousin of Joker. Riddler was a ultra flamboyant homosexual version of Joker. Mr Freeze was just a comic relief and one liner king, even tho they gave him a great backstory. Poison Ivy was just a weird woman who was talking as if reciting poems. Bane was just a muscle (even tho he looked cool imo)

Now, Joker was also one dimensional, but it was just pure Joker that I knew at the time from 80s comics, and Jack's always entertaining. As the old saying goes, "Jack is interesting doing laundry". Catwoman was such a phenomenal character with split personality and fractured heart and psyche, and Penguin was a poor old dumb schmuck who was just continuously being kicked in the butt by life, time after time, all his life. Its a tough choice between Penguin, Catwoman and Joker

Penguin by far. Batman Returns was the first Batman film I ever watched when I was little and Penguin both scared me and disgusted me while still attracting my sympathy and fascinating me (he still does to this day). Burton's Penguin is by far and way the most interesting take on the character smashing the comic version out of the water. Penguin has always been seen in the comics as just a fat man with an umbrella and top hat who transformed into a kingpin wannabe. There was nothing compelling about him. Burton's penguin is an outcast from society, a sad pathetic man who has lost his parents and is unable to let it go. Sound Familiar? Devito's performance is wonderful, he actually transforms into the Penguin, being both physically and morally repulsive but always retaining a sense of charm and pathos that makes him sympathetic. His death and subsequent "funeral" never fails to move me.

Jack's joker is good. But it felt a bit bland and shallow. There was nothing interesting going on with the Joker unlike in TDK. I've never been a huge fan of catwoman but Michelle pfeiffer is good in the role. As the rest well ... Goes without saying right?

Penguin is not only my favorite of the original villains he's my favorite movie villain evah. So perfectly written and acted. The fallow-ups for me would be

Burning curiosity compels me to ask what you loved so much about Freeze?

Jack Nicholson's Joker, followed closely by Catwoman and Penguin. Then there's a big gap between the Burton Batman villains and the Schumacher Batman villains.

Who is my favorite villain from the earlier franchise? It's a toss up between Joker, Catwoman, and Riddler.

Well firstly there's not many superior choices - And second I've always liked the concept of freeze (even the way it was done in the film). - And lastly I just enjoyed watching Arnold deliver pun after pun after pun after pun. :awesome:

the joker had the best costume

penguin had the best motivation

catwoman had the best presence/origin

the riddler achieved the most

mr freeze had the best lines

I think the Joker beats out the Penguin for me simply because he was more fun.
