I know what you're thinking. Katherine Heigl, Jennifer Aniston etc type movies?

Well no, this thread isn't about that.

I want you to genuinely think about romance in movies that worked well. Romance you really felt for?

Examples could be...

or even

I'm not one of those guys who's so defensive about my sexuality that I believe I need to hate romance in films in order to prove myself.

Some of my favourites I think are "Romeo + Juliet" (I know not everyone likes the modern take but I studied it for school and I think it's such a passionate film) or Mathilde and Manech in "A Very Long Engagement".

What's your favourite? In b4 the Pie scene in American Pie, ha!

Coppola's Dracula could very well be the greatest love story ever told on film. It can be corny at times, but always in a classy way.

Too bad it had Keanu Reeves and Wynona Rider in it.

edit : I'm adding these two :

Monsters. That felt like an absolutely genuine romance.

and...

Princess Bride is definitely the best.

Of the more traditional, romcom movies, When Harry Met Sally is a good one. I actually think Just Friends is really funny, too.

I actually ready the title as romantic comedy for some reason, but my next favorite romance movie after Princess Bride is Say Anything, followed by a movie I will probably catch some heat for, The Notebook.

I feel like I shouldn't but first I wanna throw out some chick flicks I feel handle love well - like P.S. I Love You, Moulin Rouge and The Notebook, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind :)

Comic book movie wise, my favourite couple is King Leonidas and Queen Gorgo :)

Some other non chick flicks would be:

Cark Fredricksen and Elie Docter (UP)
Chris and Annie Nielson (What Dreams May Come)

I'll think of more later!

Man, I can admit it, Up made me cry with that.

In terms of Romcoms... Love Actually FTW. I love that movie. :hrt:

We are talking about movies mainly about love and romance here right? I see people mentioning stuff like Han Solo and Leia, sorry but Star Wars is not primarily about love and romance.

My number one favorite romantic movie would be Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Others are Leaving Las Vegas, Titanic, Brokeback Mountain

Now favorite romances in a movie would be another thing.

Read the OP again, if you even did in the first place, he may have titled the thread romantic movies, but he said he is interested in hearing about your fav onscreen romances from any genre of film.

Before Sunrise and the sequel Before Sunset

Meet Joe Black

Punch Drunk Love

Leaving Las Vegas

Sorry but Anakin and Amidala in episode 2 and 3. Anakin was pretty much posessed when it came to loving Padme. Some of his lines as in compliments and flattery work all sorts of wonders on chicks, providing one delivers them accordingly as opposed to the dodgy wood work Christiansen delivered.

No able minded women, or person in general, would fall for that awful dialogue. It was laughable, the whole "romance" was laughable.

Aye, the dialgue could have been much improved...

Anakin: "I don't like sand, it gets everywhere,...not like you...you're smooth..."

Padme: "Aye, damn right I'm not your beach."

:funny: Heh, the worst one was in Sith.

Anakin: You are so beautiful
Padme: It's only because i'm so in love
Anakin: No, it's because i'm so in love with you!

Sooooo baaaaaaad lol
