Feb 2007 CW Solicits

i'm really enjoying civil war myself,ok its not the greatest ever..but i think once its all done and in tpb form and everyone can see it from start to finish..some folk will warm to it.

i used to read alot of DC...but its all so dull over there at the mo...marvel is definately the one.

civil war must be good or at least controversially good...cause it is the main subject at the moment.

ironically enough i didnt like planet hulk at all...bored me stupid...whereas civil war has held my interest.

plus the offshoots in black panther,captain america and spider-man have been great.

Probably Clor, since if the real Thor returns, he's unlikely to be fighting Storm (ie, the Antis).

Well, you could see this coming. CIVIL WAR is a name brand that sells. Even underwhelming series see a jump with a CW tie-in (see SHE-HULK). So, naturally, you knew Marvel would do everything in their power to churn out more and more CW product until the market no longer responds and it crashes. Just look at the X-Men, or Spider-Man, or hell, all the Batman & Superman books & appearences.

But you have to love how Marvel originally solicted these one-shots; "Now that CIVIL WAR itself is delayed, we figured we'd release some stories that originally weren't worth your time, but now we have time to spare! Dig in, suckers!"

That said, at least it is an attempt to boost some books as they start out, like OMEGA FLIGHT, rather than just releasing them randomly and watching them drop like a stone, year after year, with more titles than I care to mention. So one can call it a bit progressive.

Okay, so we got Civil War: The Initiative showing us the status quo after the war, revealing the casualties, and giving us a look at the new teams and rosters.

Then we get Marvel Spotlight: Civil War Aftermath showing us the status quo after the war, revealing the casualties, and giving us a look at the new teams and rosters.

And finally we have Civil War: Battle Damage Report showing us the status quo after the war, revealing the casualties, and giving us a look at the new teams and rosters.

How anyone could not smell the high-stinking bulls**t coming from a mile away is a wonder in itself.

Exactly, there is a nice medium ground that can be reached in solits or if they really are unable to summarize without any spoilers then don't release the solit early and just leave it for Tuesday.

Those one shots are giving me no incentive to buy them Brian put it just perfectly.

Of course, it will probably work.

The only one of these specials that I'm interested in is the Winter Soldier one from Ed Brubaker, mainly as a sort of substitute for there being no Captain America that month.

The Spotlight books are basically Wizard-lite. If you're not interested, what's the use in complaining? I don't buy them; I won't buy them. Black Panther I've been on the verge of dropping, but the new arc has me reconsidering because I think it's a very interesting idea.

I'm really sick of the Civil War bashing in almost every Civil War thread. It feels like it's the same few voices with the same few opinions. We get that you don't like it. It's not for everyone. Many of us are enjoying the hell out of it. I'm all for constructive criticism, but "not buying it", "Civil War sucks", "World War Hulk which hasn't even been written yet will be much better"... Lord. It gets old.

Which part let you down? Personally, Bill Foster's death kind of hurt as i'm an old 70's fan and actually loved his short-lived solo book...other than that, Millar has me entranced.
