Ferrell and Reilly are Holmes and Watson

I'm so in. Bonus points if they fight each other at least once during the movie.

This must be something Ferrell's been wanting to do for awhile. I remember he was trying to make it work with Sasha Baron Cohen around the same time the RDJ movies were kicking off.

Yeah I remember that too. I assume this is just a reworked version of it probably.

The funny thing is I think SBC was supposed to be Holmes and Ferrell was supposed to be Watson. Wonder if there's been a shift in the writing with Ferrell now playing Holmes.

Meh. If I want to watch a movie where Holmes is a cowardly idiot who runs around screaming, I'll just watch Without a Clue again.

I'm interested. We got serious Holmes in two versions recently, wonder how this will turn out. Something new.

I mean RDJ Holmes wasnt really that serious all things considered

Maybe he's counting Cumberbatch (BBC's SHERLOCK) and Johnny Lee Miller (CBS's ELEMENTARY) as the 2 serious ones.

It was action adventure serious, it was more grit than zany despite being a classic blockbuster. Then you have the BBC America one, and yes CBS forgot about that one actually. Point is, it's doing something new.

Crisis on Infinite Sherlocks - Benedict Cumberbatch, RDJ, Jonny Lee Miller and Will Ferrell unite to save the multiverse.

Interesting to see this coming up again. I remember years ago this was brought up in a dueling project situation with the first RDJ film.

Nah it wasn't that serious. It was a fun adventure movie. It had loads of humor. I wouldn't call it serious.

But honestly it doesn't matter

I don't know how to feel about this. I can't see Ferrell as Holmes but maybe that's the whole point of it? we shall see.

I'm not saying it was a very serious film, just played straight. Even you said it was somewhat serious. It was middle road. You have your Guardians of the Galaxy and your Captain America: The Winter Soldier, it was somewhere in-between. I think you're just taking "seriousness" to the extreme. Point being, as said, it's something new. To my knowledge there are only five different types of Sherlock Holmes films now - blockbuster (Sherlock Holmes 1&2), serious investigative drama (a lot), thriller (Murder by Decreet), character drama (Mr. Holmes), and coming of age (Sherlock Holmes Junior).

I'm looking forward to seeing Ferrell's comedic sensibilities mesh with a smart character. It would be a nice change up from his idiot characters (as much as I love them). Though the joke could be where he isn't as smart as he thinks he and Watson is actually the smarter one.

Will and John are great. Im down for any movie they headline.

People will go see it if it's wacky enough. Ferrell in a starring role in a comedy almost always breaks even.

John C. Reilly sure is a versatile guy, isn't it? He's just about done everything, from musicals to comedies to dramas to animated movies. And he's great in all of it!

Don't forget his snuff work. :o
