That's cause they're morons who are just as stereotypical as him. And he's also half middle eastern but that doesn't justify his Borat persona. For example, Dave Chappelle is funny because he uses his sketches to portray how far fetched the stereotypes are. Cohen on the other hand does it so you can laugh at how "That's sooooo true" and how "ignorant" those people are. Dave Chappelle even canceled his show because idiotic people were taking his jokes the same way Cohen's are meant to be taken.

Mel Brooks is arguably the king of the spoof and do you know why? Because he did them with love and respect. When something like that comes from a genuine love of the material its funny to watch someone poke fun at something because you know they appreciate it too.
