Based on a true story, Fighting With My Family follows reformed gangster Ricky, wife Julia, daughter Paige and son Zak as they make a living wrestling together in tiny venues. When Paige and Zak get the opportunity to try out for WWE, the family grabs a once-in-a-lifetime chance to turn their wildest dreams into a dazzling future. However, brother and sister quickly discover that to become superstars, both their talent and their relationship will be put to the test.

Fighting With My Family is a heartwarming and smart comedy that proves everything is worth fighting for when it comes to family.

This looks to be very good even though I am very sad about the way her career in the ring has ended and the personally troubles she had that kept her side lined for so long. For all the crap the WWE gets I applaud them for standing behind her.

Yeah, her personal life was a mess. She always kept going back to Del Rio during their short-lived and ill advised romance even tho it seemed like a car crash waiting to happen. But she seems very happy these days and WWE definitely gave her a lot of support so they do deserve a lot of credit.

Agreed. It's just a shame she can't get in the ring anymore unless in a Stone Cold situation where she doesn't take any hits and just kicks some butt.

I would love that too but Paige is unlikely to wrestle again

That's why I say she is in an Austin situation because Austin can't take anymore hits either but he is allowed to just come in talk trash and stun people then leave. I think she could work a deal sometimes to just come in kick so butt and leave without taking any hits.

Oh, that would be cool. I love it when Austin does that. I realize it undermines the current roster to some extent but it's just too much fun. Would love to see Paige beat up some motormouth heel.

This looks great! I'm not familiar with Paige or her story because I don't watch wrestling but this looks like a lot of fun. And that scene of the Rock giving them "advice" had me in stitches.

If you followed her story it is very inspiring but sad as well. I feel bad for her because she was something great but because of injuries and self-inflicted harm she really hurt her career.

Yeah, it seems that the most interesting stuff in her life happens after this movie presumably ends, but that would be more like a Randy "The Ram" Robinson territory there rather than a Stephen Merchant comedy.

Yeah, I read up a little bit on it and it's pretty sad that she can't get back into the ring again.

'Fighting With My Family': Film Review | Sundance 2019

Fighting With My Family, reminds us several times that the sport is as much about charismatic storytelling as it is about skill. Judged by that standard, the film is far from belt-worthy — a likeable enough but familiar tale that will feel more at home at the multiplex than it does at Sundance. Though this year's fest can't stop congratulating itself for the risks it purportedly takes, Family takes exactly none.

Sundance Film Review: ‘Fighting With My Family’

What prevents it all from being as hokey as WWE wrestling events themselves is the warmth and good humor Merchant brings to the material, as well as the excellent cast. Everyone here makes the most of some decent throwaway banter, albeit none quite so much as Frost. Vaughn is in good form in a role tailor-made for his caustic comic flair; Johnson pops in for a couple of genial, flashy cameos.

Pugh may almost oversell our heroine’s self-doubts; we’re never quite sure she wants this dream as much as she obviously needs to want it in order to attain it. Yet the actress still contributes another impressive turn to her fast-tracked resume. The standout performance here, though, belongs to Lowden (“Dunkirk,” “Mary Queen of Scots”), who makes rejected Zak’s heartbreak vivid enough to lend the film moments of real pathos.
