Which are your favourite or those you regard as the best film working relationships. Can be of any film discipline, Director - Actor, Director - Cinematographer, Director - Composer etc. They just need to be collaborative and have made more than two films together to 'qualify' as such.

I was hoping for more 'pick up' on this one, given we have loads of De Niro / Scorcese fans on here. Oh well. Will go with my pick, John Carpenter & Kurt Russell.

They (to date) have made 5 films together and have clearly, a very strong friendship and it's vital for any actor to trust one's director and vice versa. The journey you take together is hugely dependent on you getting along and believing in the material.

For me, the greatest of the collaborations, is The Thing. Russell is at the top of his game and Carpenter directs with a verve and deftness not seen in his later work.

The film (and their work together) signifies an understanding of character, rhythm and an enjoyment of each other's talent. When you have this kind of synergy, you make better work and Russell has always (in my view) done his best work with Carpenter.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner in DD - that was a film-making relationship where they ended up as a couple in real life because of the film.

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone in ASM

I don't mean 'love and relationships', I mean working relationships of artists who have worked together. Hence why I chose JC & KR, Depp and Burton would be another example.

Powell and Pressburger deserve a mention for their incredibly successful filmmaking partnership, which later went on to inspire the likes of Scorsese and Romero.

I would put for actor/director combo both Scorsese and DeNiro and Scorsese and DiCaprio

I love that Rian Johnson always has Joseph Gordon-Levitt in his films in some capacity.

Sven Nykvist, cinematographer/director of photography in tons of movies from early 40s until ca late 90s, had a long and deep working relationship with director Ingmar Bergman, which spanned several decades.

Was JGL in The Last Jedi and Knives Out?
Yes! He voiced the alien that reports Finn and Rose's ship when they're on Canto Bight and in Knives Out he's the detective that's screaming on the lap top that they're watching at the beginning of the film.
