I wanted to do a thread talking about some of the best friendships or relationships in film, and television as well. Try and pick out ones between just two people, three at the most. Name the characters, the film/series/franchise, and a brief discussion if you'd like, or respond to a previous post.

James Kirk, Spock, Doctor McCoy - Star Trek

The interplay between these three is the best of the best Trek episodes and movies. The only redeeming quality of Star Trek V were the scenes set in Yosemite Park, featuring the trio camping. If Abrams' movie this summer fails on any level, he'd at least better get this dynamic right.

Rocky Balboa, Apollo Creed - Rocky
With AMC's never ending Rocky marathon this weekend, it was great to see this unique relationship play out over four films. As so many great friendships start out, these two began as adversaries, each beating the other for the heavyweight title. Uniting to bring down Clubber Lang in Rocky III, the friendship really comes into its own, and is beautifully rendered in the last shot, with Rocky and Apollo meeting in a dark training room for a friendly sparring session.

Zack Morris, Kelly Kapowski - Saved By the Bell

This one may be a slightly juvenile entry, but the show was a staple for most people my age, and their relationship was a huge element of the series. Reminiscent of other great TV relationships (Lucy and Ricky, Ross and Rachel, Jim and Pam), they had good times and tough times, but loved each other through it all, both quietly and openly.

That's all I'm going to do for the first post, as I can't quite gather all my thoughts right now, and I'd like to leave room for others to add to the list.

Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz and Egon Spangler.

They are more associates but you can tell that these guys are all there only friends. The banter is just awesome.

Frodo and Sam

Can't agree with you more:up:

Frodo and Sam

beat me to it :oldrazz:

while we're at it, might as well add Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli

also

Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo (Star Wars)
-- this trio's onscreen chemistry is part of what made the original SW so memorable.

Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh (Lethal Weapon)
- most memorable buddy-cop tandem ever :woot:

Fox Mulder and Dana Scully (The X-Files)
-- the heart of the X-Files franchise. one cant survive without the other. and the franchise is not the same without them.

Xena and Gabriel (Xena: Warrior Princess)
-- i liked them better when Gabriel was more of a hapless tag along rather than mini-blonde Xena.

thats all i can think of right now

Can't believe I forgot about Mulder and Scully. One reason Bones is my favorite current show is the dynamic between Booth and Brennan. I don't think they'll hit the same level as Fox and Dana, but they certainly make the show what it is.

I'll gladly rep the current TV relationships which I think are fascinating. Oddly enough, none of them are romantic.

Seeley Booth and Temperance Brennan (Bones)
-The modern day Mulder and Scully. Partners who utilize vastly different methods to come to same conclusion. The chemistry between Boreanaz and Deschanel is the most natural and fun to watch on TV.

Gregory House and James Wilson (House)
-As viewers saw at the beginning of this season, you can't have one without the other. Wilson keeps House in line and House keeps Wilson's life interesting. Not to mention Wilson inadvertently solves the case every week by initiating most of House's epiphanies.

Sam and Dean Winchester (Supernatural)
-Simultaneously each others greatest strength and weakness. These brothers would do anything for each other, including condemning themselves to hell (literally).

Alan Shore and Denny Crane (Boston Legal)
-It was sad to finally see these 2 end their run together but how fitting that they ended it by marrying each other. Alan and Denny having drinks and a cigar on the balcony at the end of each episode summed up what they shared.

Christian Troy and Sean McNamara (Nip/Tuck)
-If being the father of your best friends son doesn't split you apart, nothing will. These two have been through more together than any marriage I can think of.

Luke cage and Danny Rand

Norman Bates and his mum

Han and Chewy

I'd ask some of you to list what show/film your characters are from, but then again, if people have to ask, then your picks aren't as "epic" as you might think. ;) Also, I'm trying to make this about characters and not so much actors who work together.

Eggyman, if I had been drinking milk, I would have shot it out of my nose reading your Norman Bates pick. That's one I never would have thought of, but it's a great one.

Superman & Lois Lane
Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid
Harry & LLoyd, Dumb & Dumber
Walter Matthau & Jack Lemmon, Grumpy Old Men
Elliot & E.T.
Thelma & Louise
Bonnie & Clyde

Batman and Alfred.

And on the other side of the spectrum; Batman and Joker, they can't survive without their games, an 'intellectual' friendship if you will.
