Not sure if there is a thread for this but given all the remakes today and the obligatory response people have to even hearing a remake is on the way. I find myself wondering which films would people actually look forward to being remade/rebooted if the trades listed the such a thing as of Tomorrow. I've heard sound logic state that if a film isn't loved but is relatively known then it's prime for the reboot treatment, vs a film that is highly loved and unknown(see oldboy) or massively known(robocop). I think alot of other things factor. Anyways what are some films people would be down for seeing remade in this day and age. Title and Director.

I think Ghostbusters would be neat. But it would need to star interesting actors. People like RDJ and John C Riley...maybe even johah hill and the seth rogan crew people like that.

I also think Back to the Future might be due. I mean wasn't that original films future our past at this point? A new look into the future might be cool.

Both by JJ abrams.

H. G. Wells' The Invisible Man
Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea
Howard Pyle's Men of Iron (terribly done as Black Shield of Falworth with Tony Curtis)

I'd be down with remakes/reboots of;

Power Rangers
Waterworld
Lost in Space
The Mask

The Burning, its a good idea for a slasher but for me it was a let down, very dated.

Back to the Future never should be remade, that would be a travesty.

Ghostbusters (while I enjoy it, I'm not a hardcore fan. )

Director: Adam McKay

Venkman: Paul Rudd, David Duchovny
Ray: Ron Livinston
Egon: Hank Azaria
Winston: Orlando Jones
Louis: Steve Zahn

Or the 3 guys from Horrible Bosses and Jamie Foxx..

I'd be down with Danny McBride being involved but not so much Seth Rogen..

This is an interesting direction(and director)^

I think there are alot of ways to go with this but most ways very much write themselves. I still think making the film with the 'This is the End' cast would be a huge sell with a baruchel in the younger role of Egon. And Franco in funny mode. Then there is that Apatow crew which includes Rudd and Carrel.
There are those great The lego movie/21 jumpstreet directors.

Louis CK could be so interesting in the Vankman under the right direction.

I'm surprised this film hasn't happened yet, a shame really.

I want to see remakes of films that flopped the first time around.

Yeah films with a good idea that were poorly executed.

I'd say twenty years from now someone should redo After Earth but make it good, it had a solid concept.

I like Baruchel and Franco and while I like This is the End and that type of humour, I don't really like the idea of the guys taking on the project as a unit... Maybe a couple of them. Seth Rogen is too obvious, if that makes sense. But I agree that that group would be money.... saying that the film should sell itself though.

There's a number of ways you could go I guess... you could go for the more standard comedy route akin to the original with a more suited cast or go for a more 00's/Apatow type comedy. Those 21 Jump Street directors is a good call.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that I think Tron should probably be rebooted at this point. Frankly, though, I'm not holding my breath waiting for any more Tron movies of any kind - I honestly don't see Disney seriously committing to it now that they have SHIELD to lean on on one side and the Skywalker family on the other.

While I somewhat can understand that people who wasn't around when movies like Back to The Future and Ghostbusters came out would like a remake of them, I certainly don't. Please let those cinema classics alone for at least a coupla decades.

But movie turds that was built on litterary/comic book origins are always welcome for another try. For instance, The Spirit was just spitting on Will Eisner's grave (and I hope Miller, Jackson & Johansson are ashamed of that one).

While I still think it'd bee kinda hard to capture the true spirit (pun intended) of Eisner's incredible art, I would be curious if a serious remake by true Eisner fans in the crew would be in the making.

being dated was the appeal; well that and Jason Alexander. but i'd love a remake. same with Slaughter High and Curtains.

Logan's Run
Good call! I've always found it funny that there's only three years between Logan's Run and Alien, still the former feels at least a decade more dated visually than the timeless (well, apart from the usual computer screen stuff lol) Alien.

IMHO, Logan's Run would actually be quite interesting to see with today's sci-fi design. It's a really cool story. A cameo from Michael York would be gold as well here. :woot:

Logan's Run

Maybe they are waiting for another big brand new mall to open that they can film in.:oldrazz:

Seriously, Logan's Run is actually planned to be made, but it's been in development hell since around 2000. In 2011 it looked like it was finally going forward with both a director (Nicolas Winding) and a star (Ryan Gosling) named, but both left the project within 6 months. Not much has happened since, except for Ken Levine taking charge of doing the script last June.

I like the idea of cameos, Michael York (with a little makeup he could be "the Old Man", of course, but Jenny Agutter is still around, she was actually in The Avengers (the voice of the city computer maybe?).

Speed Racer. Only instead of a new cast and crew, bring back all the old guys, and instead of a new creative direction, do things the same as they did before, and instead of wiping the slate clean of any continuity, have it take place after the events of the first. :ninja:

THE LAST STARFIGHTER.

Seriously, why is this not happening? They're rebooting/remaking every other 80s and 90s movie. This one at least has some major potential with modern special effects and how much everyone loves video games these days. I know that a sequel/reboot of sorts was in the works a few years ago but I don't know what happened there.

^^ The Last Starfighter could be ****ing awesome!

I'll go ahead and throw Enemy Mine in there was well. Also, I've been dying to see an Altered States remake for YEARS! And, it's one film I don't think there would be much worry over it turning into some overblown action film. Videodrome would be dope too but, I don't know if they could capture the same feeling that movie had. It'd get over blown way too easy

Yes! "Dragonball Evolution" was so frikkin horrible... We need some Man of Steel or even more epic scale fights for a real live action Dragonball movie

And have more people ***** about "mindless destruction"? No thanks.

:o

Give me a Moby Dick movie made by one of the following collaborations:

- Joel and Ethan Coen
- David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin
- Bennett Miller and Dan Futterman
