Films that should be Remade/Rebooted

As one Godfather Part II-style movie, though. I don't think we needed three whole movies to chart Anakin's descent.

Man-Thing would be cool today if he was actually in the ****ing movie for more than 5 minutes.

Phone Booth as a 30 minute 1960's episode of The Twilight Zone. A MAN CAN DREAM.

Spawn
A live-action reboot of Berserk
The Rocketeer
Star Wars Prequel trilogy, but if that did happen, then reboots of the originals would probably soon follow.
Swamp Thing
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
A Tron film set in the 80s that was deeper and more complex, instead of a summer blockbuster, though the best option would probably be to try turning this idea into a new propery
Street Fighter
Mortal Kombat

I remember the first Mortal Kombat, it was truly epic. The fight scenes, the reverence for the source material, the musical score... so awesome. Then again, I was 12.

Liu Kang was smart in how he beat up Sub-Zero.

With the Clone Wars series I'm not sure a prequel trilogy remake is necessary. Just remake Episode 3 to wrap up the Clone Wars series. Make Anikan like Clone Wars Anikan and boom we've got an amazing Prequel story.

magnificent seven/samurai is about due.
Casting is key.

But Episode III was the most bearable of the prequels :o

I actually do like the film... well most of it. Anikan in the film is just very much inferior to the Anikan we come to know in the Clone Wars series. The Anikan in the Clone Wars is the man old Obi-wan described and he's very likeable. Anikan in Episode 3 is a whiney *****e. It's like night and day.

Ehhh...personally I'd prefer Tron stay in popcorn territory, myself.

Here here for League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

OK, a couple other reboots I'd like to see: I'd like to see somebody a couple more years down the road get the film rights to both The Lone Ranger and The Green Hornet under one umbrella, then do The Lone Ranger as a proper revenge Western, and then The Green Hornet as a period 1930s crime adventure follow-up to The Lone Ranger in which Britt Reid is established as the Ranger's grandnephew, as he originally was in the radio show.

Cleopatra.

I missing an epic set on Ancient Rome... and the closest thing that I can remember is Pompeii.

Not sure if there is a thread for this but given all the remakes today and the obligatory response people have to even hearing a remake is on the way. I find myself wondering which films would people actually look forward to being remade/rebooted if the trades listed the such a thing as of Tomorrow. I've heard sound logic state that if a film isn't loved but is relatively known then it's prime for the reboot treatment, vs a film that is highly loved and unknown(see oldboy) or massively known(robocop). I think alot of other things factor. Anyways what are some films people would be down for seeing remade in this day and age. Title and Director.

I think Ghostbusters would be neat. But it would need to star interesting actors. People like RDJ and John C Riley...maybe even johah hill and the seth rogan crew people like that.

I also think Back to the Future might be due. I mean wasn't that original films future our past at this point? A new look into the future might be cool.

Both by JJ abrams.

I think the problem with the idea of a Back to the Future was that BTTF was made at the right time: 1985. Go back 1955 (when parents were teens) and it's a total culture clash. No skateboards, no Star Wars, no nothing that can relate to Marty. Go to the unknown 2015, it's another culture clash.

Set the BTTF reboot now, then Marty would have to go to the 90's. There isn't any significant cultural or political shifts to play around with. In fact, Marty would blend in fairly easily.

That's in interesting point. Though going back 30 years from now would land marty in 1985, which is kinda poignant in it's own way. There is plenty of culture clashing between 85 and 2015, within the kids anyways. Social media is always a go to talking point, that music.

An interesting point none the less. I still find myself more interested in the future jump and the casting of Doc Brown. Depp would sell his soul for the role.

I mean it's a superfluous difference when it comes down to stuff like the lack of social media, etc. Just speaking for myself, but i was teleported back to 1985, sure I would be in shock at the world. But give me a day and I can totally blend in. People still partied hard. You had great music. You had punk, hip hop and new wave. You had great movies. But if I warped back to 1955? No way. It would be a different planet, especially with me as a minority.

I don't know. The BTTF reboot would have to a different plot. The problem with today's movie is that everything has to be bigger and 'epic'. You have to save the world. You're the chosen one. Blah.

Marty just had to save his family and his existence.

Another thing: BTTF was a tentpole. It had the greatest minds in modern cinema supporting it. Now look at Hot Tub Time Machine. That's just a comedy not a tentpole. It just show how Hollywood operates now. BTTF and Ghostbusters got lucky.

I was about to mention Hot Tub Time Machine. It's the closest thing we need to a "modern day" BTTF... and I love it, by the way.

Yeah but it's not a tentpole blockbuster while BTTF was back in the 80's thanks to Speilberg and Zemeckis. A movie like BTTF probably couldn't get made now unless it was just a flat out comedy released in February.

Honestly, just give me more time travel movies. We don't get enough of those.

So disappointing that Fincher didn't stay attached to Cleopatra.
