Apocalypse Final fight with Apocalypse, questions (big spoilers)

I really enjoyed this scene as a whole. I think the scene really worked because of 'Teamwork'... and it was spot on I thought but in a way, Jean/Phoenix could still very well had defeated Apocalypse alone. I wasn't expecting the full blown Phoenix force but I was so nerdgasming all over lols. The whole scene to my perspective helped expose Apocalypse's own weaknesses, therefore with the others help, all of them were able to bring him down. Can't wait to see that scene again in all its glory... I've been waiting for this moment since X2...

I wish there was more team work when it came to the horsemen.... like I liked when Psylocke saved Storm... then that whole team-up with Angel and Psylocke but all of those were quickly over in like 2 minutes.

Guys, please, I need a more specific answer. :drl:

yeah i remember it being storm
poccy was like man lemme get outta here
and she was like uh uh dont start nothin wont be nothin
lets get it

Yeah. So who takes down the bubble forever?

Did you watch the movie or what, lol? Go and see it again...

As far as i can remember...

Cyclops is firing eye-beams at Apoc's force field, and Magneto is flinging metal shrapnel at it which gets vaporised on impact and turns into fire.

Apoc then starts to create his pink-purple teleportation bubble inside his forcefield, Cyclops shouts 'he's getting away' but Storm surrounds it with lightning so he can't transport himself.

Jean then screams and blasts at Apoc to take down the forcefield. As far as I can remember, the fire from the vaporised metal around the forcefield is then used by Jean as her Phoenix effect. She peels away Apoc's armour and Magneto impales Apoc with metal shards (like when he disposed of Zaladane) and Phoenix then vaporises him...

Just go and see the movie again!

Magneto/Pheonix was good combi
Also lighning of Storm and optic blast of Cyclops

I didn't see anyone mentioning it but as far as I remember Jean going Phoenix is what rips Apocalypse's armor apart and only after that does the other people manage to attack him with effect.

One last question:

I'm a bit disappointed that the Phoenix incinerating Apocalypse looked so anti-climatic and QUICK as scene.

I mean:

Apocalypse just says "All is revealed" and then?
I don't remember seeing him finally exploding or melting in a spectacular and climatic/dramatic way.
It felt a bit rushed IMHO.

Or I don't remember it very well???

It was pretty quick, but it did show him getting melted/destroyed. It reminded me of Hellraiser because we saw his layer of pink/red muscles and veins being destroyed

I actually thought this was a good showing of power by Apocalypse, not just in this movie but throughout it as well. I mean towards the end, when he started taking center stage, he was taking them all on at the same time and even fighting in the Astral Plane as well with Xavier and later Jean.

I'm not so sure if the rest of the team was there that Jean could have taken him by himself. While it could be argued she hasn't transformed into the true phoenix yet, she was clearly letting out a crazy surge of the power she is always trying to hold back. I think what happened here was that Apocalypse wasn't expecting to encounter another mind so powerful, even more powerful than Xavier and his own. The reprecussions of this was that he quickly lost his armor and positioning. Basically he was completely off guard.

Had he known in advance we might have seen it play out differently. The other thing to take into consideration is the comic lore between the two, where there is that much at least directly. On one hand Apocalypse has and is always a Earth/planatery type threat where as Dark Phoenix is a cosmic level threat and and threatens the whole universe/possibly even reality. So on those terms alone, you'd be like yea phoenix would prob own him. But there has been some new comic lore since then that says otherwise.

For anyone following the comics there was the 'Dark Angel Saga' from Uncanny X force by Rick Remender. And at one point a Age of apocalypse version of Phoenix/Jean attack the imbued Archangle who had now gained Apocalypse status and the surprising thing was to this that the phoenix force was not even able to harm Archangel/with Apocalypse power. I guess the way it worked though was that the Phoenix force won't hurt Apocalypse because they agree and compliment with their existances and philosophies in a way. Death, Rebirth, and Evolution is something incarnate to both deities so the phoenix was not able to harm him. He could still harm her however.

But anyways, the only thing we didn't see in that final battle or movie were his shapeshifting abilities which I think made a lot of people mad, but I think it was the right move not too. The minute you start making a movie with abilities like that you are going to have sandman/Spiderman 3 CGI and last time I remember, it wasn't very good. Apocalypse walking around have complete molecular control over everything, unknown but strong telepathic abilities, at least on a level where another telepath couldn't battle him and win. He had the power to both enhance and diminish other mutant powers around him. And that last one was actually something I wonder, if he had known how much of a threat Jean was, would have have used the dampening powers on Jean, and would have it even worked anyway? Either way, I did like how in his last line he stays true to his own character when he says "all is revealed". Now whether that meant that he was accepting of the situation that he was not the most powerful known individual like he previously thought and sensed a new power that could cause far more destruction that him remains to be seen. Or it was him possibly admitting defeat and that he was glad in a way that these warrior all showed up to battle/stop him. And in a way he's proud of them then, because they are clearly showing strength. Oscar Isaac also hints at this in one of his interviews where he says he believes Apocalypse wants to be challenged because he truly is looking for the powerful to rule over the world and remake it again.

You should watch the movie again.

Waiting for the blu-ray... I know! :csad:

I was watching (of course), but it was quick and "dense" as sequence.

1- I remember Storm weakened the teleportation bubble, but Scott kept hitting the forcefield or so...
2- I thought it was Magneto to peel away the armor from Apocalypse, but I could be wrong.
3- So Phoenix took down the forcefield.

I disagree about his shapeshifting powers not working in film. When I first saw the future Sentinels in action in DoFP I thought to myself "they're going to go that route with Apocalypse". Apocalypse should have been cgi based and been a powerful melee character, growing to large size and smashing his enemies with his hands / weapons.

I recall a line from Age of Apocalypse where Apocalypse is fighting Magneto and Bishop and Apocalypse mocks Bishop for reaching for his blaster. "The strong prefer the righteous pounding of bone on flesh." He broke Quicksilver's leg and grabbed Mystique but the throat but mostly he preferred waving his hands.

I know the movie just released...but when do you all think we'll see this come out on DVD? I'm betting possibly in August...

August or September!

Its probably out in digital stores by August of 2016!
