Okay, to those who have seen the movie, let's enumerate some of the things we didn't really like about it. This is, of course, not to bring this epic piece down. It's just to express some of the things we didn't sit well with us. The movie does have a 50% rating in RT now.
Spoilers are aplenty, so beware!
Okay, let me start:
1. I was personally disappointed that the "only" fight scene was the final destruction. Sure, there was the brief fight scene in the intro in Egypt and the "rescue" scene, but I was surprised that they were already engaging in the final battle with Apocalypse toward the end. I didn't feel the build up immediately.
2. I feel that Havok's death was badly done. I personally don't mind him dying, but I wish he remained alive toward the final battle and have him killed by Apocalypse or some of the horsemen. That way, the emotional weight would've been heavier. We could also see more of him in action since it was his last.
3. Jubillee. This one is more personal. I know she's just a supporting character. I didn't mind she was in any of the battles, but I guess I just wanted to see a display of her power. And she wasn't in the "final scene" where the Xmen were assembling in the Danger Room. Though, I guess this justifies her being more of a student at this time. Maybe it's just me clinging on to the 90s cartoons where she had more chance to show off her powers.
4. The team didn't feel like a "team" in the final battle. I don't know how to explain this. There were parts where I was being pumped up already, then somehow, I got lost.
5. I think the Phoenix Force wasn't handled well? I know we've had some "premonitions" going on with Jean and this must've hinted some of her power, but I feel like it was a bit too "abrupt?" I honestly don't know how the Phoenix would've been handled well in just one movie. I like the firebird effect though.
6. There were some parts where Sophie Turner's delivery of lines felt... bland?
I'm sure I have other things going on in my mind, but this is all for now. Don't get me wrong though. I don't hate the movie. I still enjoyed it for what it is. I'd give it a 7/10.
What about you?
