Comics Final page of ASM 698 is now online...

I enjoy reading comments. I really do. This keeps me entertained. I remember the days when people complained about BND, then further back to OMD, back to the creation of the Ultimate Universe, back to the Return of Norman Osborn, Back to the Clone Saga. I don't remember much before that though, mainly because was playing the catch up game. But I do remember the complaints. And while I understand some complaisn and think some others are just silly, one thing alsways stayed the same: People complained, no matter what happens. So I enjoy reading your posts - thanx for that^^ (No offense to anyone)

And welcome to my ignore list.

These next two issues are going to be fun times.

Anyone that complains about the twist...why read comics? Everyone knows in due time the status quo will return back to Peter being Spidey, so just have fun and enjoy the turns and twists that lay ahead.

Exactly this is the norm if you've been reading comics for a long time, in the end everything goes back to the normal.

Just like OMD getting reversed...oh wait.

With regards to the spoiler

How long do you guys think this has been in place... how far back has Ock been Spider-Man, how long has he been trying to redeem himself through becoming his greatest enemy? If it's, say, pre Spider-Island then that puts the whole Spider-Man controlling the bots to deliver the cure whilst shouting "I'm doing it, i'm going to save everybody" scene in a whole new light

I don't why Dan felt the need to go underground for this. I find it utterly cool how he's laid it out in this issue. I can't remember the last time I've been this excited over a Spidey story. It seems most here love it too. He should pop his head out and take a bow for writing such a bold and incredible issue.

Exactly, the way he was talking I thought it was gonna be something truly awful

same here... I've thought that everything since One More Day has been utter garbage, but finally a storyline that's really intrigued me and making me want to see how this is all gonna play out...

After reading the issue my guess is the reason Octavius isn't bragging is due to this switch happening by accident. Even though its obvious the switch happened no sooner than between 697-698 my guess is Peter created a link with him when he used the Octobot helmet to cure Spider-Island.

I think so, as well. It would also explain how
Doc Ock was able to "reverse engineer" all of Peter's Horizon Labs inventions during Ends of the Earth--because he got them directly out of Peter's own head.

Good question!

Logic would say it happens sometime at the end of the EOTE arc. But considering how Dan plots, I can see this going as far back as issue #600, making it a massive 100 issue arc. But, based on Dan's use of longtime continuity, perhaps it dates back pre OMD, and this is his attempt to retcon the whole OMD mess. Who knows, mabe Dan will connect it to the first time Doc Ock returns from the dead after the Clone Saga. I look forward to looking for clues in past issues!

That's what I was thinking. There obviously seems to be a connection to that aspect to this recent reveal.

Happy Thanksgiving! :yay:

Since OMD, this is the first story that I think will really intrigue me. I'm not saying any real opinion on it, since I haven't read the issue yet, but I will form one when I read it. But, that won't be for a while... I live on the West coast, so it takes a long time for my subscription comics to arrive... I haven't even received 697 yet.

We should find a way to blame Dan Slott for this too.

Fantastic issue. What a cliffhanger.

Doc Ock is now officially Spidey's greatest villain, IMO. What a villainous journey he's been on since ASM #600, but this latest bit of nastiness takes the cake.

Norman Osborn eat your heart out.

Shows you just how uncreative Norman is. He just resorts to whipping out his penis.

what a REFRESHING change of pace to have the clean art of Richard Elson gracing the pages instead of Horrendous Ramos...

a shame that Elson is on board for just this one issue and then Ramos is back to finish up... IMO, it's Elson who should have the honors to complete the arc...

It's a bi-weekly book, so I assume Ramos is used because he's fast.

I'll give Ramos credit on those ASM 700 pages released this week, it looks gorgeous.

They really do, though i must say i love Ramos

Ramos has improved a lot since his early PPSM and Spec stuff in the early 00's, but I'm still not a big fan. I find it too cartoony.

i like that though. I like all ends of the spectrum. hyper realism to extremely cartoony...the thing is Spider-Man is the type of character that can translate so well to either ends of the style spectrum when it comes to drawing
