Final Version vs. Workprint - Official Discussion

...so you're pissed that Gambit attacked both of them?

Gambit did not attack Creed. He attacked Wolverine...freeing Creed so he could get away. He was coming from above...had a clear line of site...saw that a stranger was about to kill one of the men who kidnapped and potentially tortured him...and he chose to free the bad guy for no discernible reason.

Yes, creed escaped, because Gambit attacked BOTH, he didn't do it to free Creed, he wanted to fight both and creed just ran, Gambit kept on fighting the guy who was left there.
Even is he saw WOlverine fighting with him, why should he believe what he said? it could still be a trap!

No ,Creed did not kidnap him.

You'll never be a member of Gambit's Royal Flush (*pouts*)
(of course you don't want to, I'm just kidding).
But I agree that Gambit attacked them both; if he wanted to free Creed, he could have just attacked Wolverine; but the bo staff tossed on the groud, sent everyone flying all over the place.

Here's what Gambit seems to be thinking..."I am going to run to the roof jump down and blow up this whole alley way because two guys who could be involved in kidnaping mutants is down there fighting..." So he does...then Creed runs off. So what...Gambit thought Wolverine was going to kidnap him. Wolverine was the one pressing in not creed. As far as we know Gambit never saw creed before in his life.

Gambit's captors did play cards with him for some reason so I am sure he got to know a lot of the 'team'.

that's the other thing, wolverine knocks him out with an adamantium elbow to the face.

judging by his reaction at the mention of his name, he did know him, but he just wasn't the one who kidnapped him.

As far as I remember, Gambit played cards with the guards (some random guys, I guess), not with the team of captors. I can't imagine Creed coming up with a cute nickname for Remy, such as "Gambit".

So, Gambit wants them both dead...so instead of letting Wolverine kill Creed and then killing Wolverine...Gambit chooses to unleash a non lethal blast on them both, allowing one to escape.

Smart move!

The only thing I didn't like about Gambit was how his accent has an on and off switch.

If Gambit wanted them both dead, he would have just done it himself.

Didn't look like he had some bloody revenge against sabretooth anyway, or wanted to kill wolverine in their fight, after all, gambit has never been a killer like wolverine.

Well considering everyone in X1 tried to keep an accent then in X2 just said forget it...

He probably was just thinking how cool it would be to jump down and blow everything up!

I can't imagine why the guards were playing cards with a dangerous mutant that they had locked up that could escape by touching things. It was a dumb line.

Gambit's hypnotic charm maybe?

The only thing I didn't like about Gambit was how his accent has an on and off switch.

Yeah, I find weird how in the workprint his accent was stronger in his last scene. But they changed that in the final movie by adding re-dubbed dialogue.

Yeah I know. Halle's was actually pretty good in the deleted classroom scenes, a shame they had her get rid of it. Anna's was pretty slight at best and never came back after X1. I hated how Pyro and Colossus weren't given one..

Thank GOD Nightcrawler had one and it was perfect.

Gambit's hypnotic charm maybe?
Maybe so! But, without dialogue to explore that, it was just a dumb line because it makes you think why in the hell would they play cards with the guy:huh: It made no sense.

I think Gambit was somewhat stupid because he got pushed aside by Wolverine and clearly had a chance to escape. He even ran far away on the rooftops and instead took the opportunity to run back and counterattack Logan while he was fighting Creed. Then halfway through the fight Gambit cut tail and tried to run away again. Except this time Gambit couldn't because now Wolverine had his sights set exclusively on him. Was he trying to escape Wolverine or was he trying to kill Wolverine for trying to take him?

But that's just Gambit, he loves to fight, he was probably pissed by the punch.
At the end he might have seen how powerful Wolverine was and decided to escape, I don't think he was trying to kill wolverine, Gambit is not a killer.

I think he wanted to kick Wolverine's butt a little while, and then leave. As I said, if he wanted to kill someone, he has the power to do it; but that's not his style.

what I really wanted this final version to explain was how he got on the rooftop, a couple of seconds of Gambit sneaking out of there and climbing the freaking building would have been enough. It just felt like bad editing
