This is a classic thread in all the boards, so here is the X-men Origins: Wolverine.

What do you think will be the final Worldwide BOXOFFICE of Wolverine?

As a reference, this was the final boxoffice of other superhero movies:

Ironman: $520 (to date)
X-men: The last stand:$459.3
X2: Xmen united:
$407.6
Superman Returns: $391.1
Batman Begins: $371.9
Fantastic four: $330.1
X-men: $296.3

Will it be more successful than Ironman?....
or more than X3 at least?....
or less than Batman Begins?....

My feeling is that it won't be as successful as previous X-Men films, unless it really proves itself. It's too early to make much judgment.

yes, I think that too.

I suppose it could end around X2 numbers.

I'll wait until I see some footage before I decide.

I really doubt it will surpass Ironman, honestly.

I don't really think it.

I mean, Ironman is more spectacular than Wolverine.

Why should Iron Man's box office numbers be the expectation though? None of the X-Men films, nor any other current superhero films save for the Spider-Man franchise, have posted those kinds of numbers before.

who said it is expected? hehe. My comment was a response to Deadpool87.

I don't want Wolverine to be a success, hehe.

I really hope it ends with less boxoffice than X3, I really hope it.

Blasphemy

hahahaa, sorry.

But I'm a fan of "the x-men", not of Wolverine the biggest star of the world.

:yay:

I was referring to your comment prior to your repsonse to Deadpool87, in which you said you thought the movie wouldn't surpass Iron Man.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine doesn't have to make as much as The Last Stand in order for it to be more successful. It's already cheaper to produce than the last X-Men movie or what it would most likely cost to produce another X-Men movie with the cast intact.

yeah, I know...

is just that I don't want to see the list of the movies with better boxoffice and seeing Wolverine over X-men flims, hehe.

I'm that weird, he

Personally, I would be surprised if it makes more than X2 or The Last Stand. It does however, have a great opening weekend--the first weekend in May. Both Spider-Man 3 and Iron Man did very well there, so we'll see. Overall, I think it will depend on the surrounding hype and quality of the movie.

and of the action showed in the trailers too, hehe.

I mean, cool action, visually.

True. I'm very interested to see how Hood will handle it.

Oh man, can't wait to see the first Gambit action scene :wow:

that can became one of the best moments of the movie for me, :woot: really.....

(and BMM, is funny how you and me are talking at the same time about boxoffice in both this and X3 threads, hehe)

I'm sure the boards will light up when people get their first glimpse of Gambit in action.

Haha. I was thinking the same thing.

I would also be surprised to see if it made more than X2 but now that Wolverine has more of an audience than before the X-Men movies it could make more. Another issue will be if people, besides true fans, would want to see a dark movie about his painful life leading up to the X-Men movies. But to contradict my point, if the movie has more gritty violence than any of the X movies it will bring out a greater audience. I am considering the scene in X-2 where he slaughtered all those military agents in the X mansion and that scene alone made me want to see it 3 more times.

I never felt any of his fight scenes in the trilogy.

Now that I think it, one of my favorite scenes of Logan is the one with Rogue, at the beggining of X1 while he drives his car. That was a really good scene.

And about action, I preffer Kurt to Logan in X2.

Just something I was wondering;
Aren't comic hero movies much more popular now than they were when the first X-men movies were released?
I wasn't transformed to comicgeek at that time :P So I wondered whether anybody out here had a better judgement than me on the matter. Cos it seems to me that boxoffice just keep going up and up when it comes to these movies (apart from the occasional flop).

You've got a good point there. :) The popularity of comic book movies have skyrocketed since the original x-men days. They were pretty big in the latter 80's, and then the Batman sequels kind of ruined that genre. After the first X-men movie came out, though, everything started getting back on track. And it's just been getting better ever since. :woot:

Exactly! So my bet is that this movie can at least compete with X-Men 2 and 3. Not sure whether it can beat Iron Man though.. I hope so.
