First came Pirates of The Caribbean, then The Haunted Mansion, now comes...

Take a look at these pictures and tell me that you don't see live action movie potential...:

NOTE: In order for it to work though it HAS to be live action. It can't be animated or it will lose the magic. But, if it is live action- wow- as an aspiring film maker I definitely see alot of mind blowing classic scenes that can be done now a' days to take the audience on a real thrilling tense into the dangers of the jungle.

This film can either be REALLY good or REALLY bad depending on what route they take.

According to some sites online, the ride takes place in 1938. If they do it well, it could be a decent action/adventure throwback to those old serials of that time.

Honestly, after Pirates, you can't roll your eyes at anyone attempting to turn a ride into a movie ever again.

what...does that mean that the black people will be jumpin around in loin cloths shouting "oola boola" ?

Exactly, it has to be set in that time period, or else it just wont work for me, like what Indiana Jones was to the serials that inspired it.

Course not.

It'll be white people colored black to keep it authentic. :o

I'm surprised no one's suggested STAR TOURS yet. Just keep Lucas out of the director's chair by baiting him with a C-note on a rod and reel and you'd improve its box office chances right there. :oldrazz:

This may seem like a stupid idea, but so did POTC when it was first announced. It may work, it may not but I probably won't see it either way.

More than likely a well to do family in the 1930's signs up for a voyage of darkest Africa, Asia, etc. and have bizzare Jurassic Park-like adventures. That's what I suspect it may be like, with a couple crazy tour guides and a Han Solo-esque hero for good measure.

Haunted Mansion did not bomb, it made quite a bit of money.

OK, it did make $75 mil domestic and $182 mil worldwide. Still quite disappointing for a movie that cost $90 mil before promotion costs.

You can assume that DVD sales and TV rights made up for the advertising costs, and say the film cleared a 90 million dollar profit more or less...That is enough profit to fund three well made comedies that will return about 90 million each, or another big budget spectacle that has the pottential to do much better...Either way, a 90 million dollar return is nothing to be ashamed of.

See, I was just at Disneyland a matter of months ago. I think that it could be good if handled right. Which I believe will be an action/adventure period piece with a group of people travelling into the heart of Africa and encountering wild animals and hostile natives. I think some one said it pretty good with the Jurassic Park analogy.

I'm not saying it'll be a guarenteed success, but like Pirates, there's alot of room to run with it. Let's just hope they run in the right direction.

You know that Disney must have been disappointed by those results after POTC had made $305mil domestic, however. It's sort of like the $136mil made by the 1998 Godzilla seeming respectable until you look at the $306mil that Independence Day pulled in previously. It was an example of a similar type that failed to perform up to expectations.

As far as Country Bears and Haunted Mansion, they made those two out to be more comedic. Pirates is tongue in cheek, but there are just as many tense and dramatic moments to balance it out. Had they made Haunted Mansion a slightly intense horror movie with a PG-13 rating, it may have done better. They have to treat Jungle Cruise in a similar fashion. Haunted Mansion's backstory is pretty gruesome and morbid when you think about it, and they didnt showcase that in the movie.

Definately, though not a bomb in the box-offce . . it WAS a bomb critically though I thought the movie was fun and worth a rental.

When will I get my Space Mountain movie?!

Made with the same pinache and fun that was POTC, for sure! I can't remember the last time we had a truly fun space movie with the humor and attitude in the right places, though Serenity was damn close.

People claim The Black Hole was the movie version of Space Mountain.
