Sequels First Class-Prequel or Reboot?

Should "X-Men: First Class" be a prequel or a reboot? (or a "preboot")

  • prequel (X-Men spinoff)

  • reboot (X3 sucks!)

  • "preboot" (prequel/reboot)

That's what I meant
Because:
If reboot, x-team will be composed by Cyke Ice Jean Angel Beast, that's the 1st rumor confirmed.
If prequel, we must have Cyke Beast Jean Storm.
And 3rd, rumors tells it may be a sequel, focus on young x-men (Colossus Rogue Ice Kitty etc) another x-movie spin-off
-3 possibilities-
What a confusion :oldrazz:

Well, I guess that if they reboot back to the beginning, with the original 5... then it would not really be a prequel. But I think that the point is, go back to the beginning of the team, but reboot with a different story arc also.

Right this is what I want.

 What's a preboot? If you go back to the beginning and reboot, it's a reboot.

You make a "prequel" that does not rule out the events in the previous set of films set in the future... a film that can co-exist with the other films but does not directly lead into them, which also stands on its own... then in future sequels to the "preboot" you completely shed continuity/connection with the previous set of films. BB does not qualify because that lies completely outside the Burton/Schumacher universes.

That sounds like a reboot that's wasting its time. If you're going to separate from the current continuity after the "preboot," why not just reboot? I've been reading the preboot threads, and everyone really just seems to be talking about a reboot.

I'd like it to be a prequel with Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, Beast & some other X-Men who either die or leave the team before the first movie.

If it's a sequel maybe we can get Gambit as a team leader, while Storm is headmistress & Wolverine is off on "solo"* adventures.

*Solo meaning without the X-Men, seeing as how there's a crap load of cameos & appearances in "Wolverine".

Easy.... no studio is gonna bank on success like that. If the movie is successful you continue... if it's not then you let it stand as is... and eventually it will be viewed as a prequel. A "preboot" has the potential to be both... frankly I don't know how much they can honestly tell in terms of a trilogy pre-X-Men so I wouldn't go that route. I am hoping the Magneto film fills us in on most of the events that took place in the movieverse leading up to X-Men... if anything. Another full blown prequel film is unnecessary... and I personally do not need the Xavier perspective or a young pre-X-Men perspective. Magneto makes for a more compelling film and it provides enough opportunity to fill you in on the clues during that time period (which even Wolverine is doing). I am hoping Magneto is the next spinoff.
