Who here thinks X-Men: First Class should feature the original 5, instead of the newer X-Men?

ahh it is soo hard to pick, I am excited either way for a new x-men movie, I think no matter what it will be great!

I look at it like this; if they're gonna use new X-Men, it might as well be a New Mutants flick.

Agreed don't call it first class just call it the new mutants or whatever. Then eventually when Marvel gets the rights back they can reboot with a proper first class and do it right. This poll is sad to me because I thought the Hype had more comic fans but I guess not.

With Wolverine and Magneto Origins movie to be connected to the previous X-men movies, it won’t make sense to have an entirely unrelated X-men movie which features the comic original 5: Jean, Scott, Beast, Angel, Iceman. It would be very confusing. So that idea should be saved for the time after Marvel gets the rights back.

Right now Fox should either do a movie with new mutants: Rogue, Iceman, Shadowcat, Angel, Colossus or do a prequel about the adult X-men. But who will be the fifth X-man? Only Scott, Jean, Storm and Beast were introduced.

I prefer the new mutants movie though :yay:

Agreed if you aren't going to do it right just continue with the weak story you've started.

The first 2 movies had strong stories. I think if the right people are involved involved, young or new X-men can be like those two previous movies.

They were Ok but far from what they should have been.

So, maybe this movie shouldn't be made at all until the X-Men series dies down.

If I had it my way yeah. Wait like 5 years reboot and make it right you know.

X-Men: First Class would actually be a great name for a reboot. I say they shelve this project for now.

im pretty much saying what everyone else has been saying. if they're gonna make this 'First Class' movie and release it now mixed in with 'Wolverine' and 'Magneto' then it should have the already established first class from the franchise- Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, and Beast. they could get away with adding others like Banshee or Thunderbird, but they can't throw in Angel and Iceman since they didn't officially joint until X3 (and technically only Bobby did). and that's what's bothering me with this Gossip Girl news, that they're calling it 'First Class' and they're talking about the 2nd generation X-Men from Last Stand. if you want to work with the team left over either call it 'New X-Men' or just continue the series- X-Men 4.

if it were up to me i would ax this project, wait 5 even 10 years and just restart the franchise with a cast mixing the O-5 with the GS X-Men. maybe something like:

Cyclops
Jean
Storm
Wolverine
Colossus
Beast

I agree with waiting and starting over.

Add Gambit and Rogue.

well i dont want to clutter the team and have everybody battling for screentime. i originally had Iceman on my roster but i thought i was already pushing it with 6. i really want each member to get fleshed-out and be treated properly this time around. so that means not hiring bouncers with no acting experience to play Colossus just because he's tall and ripped, and telling a story about a team and not <insert favorite character> surrounded by a team.

if their gonna do a First Class film then it should feature Scoot, Jean, Storm, Beast, and whoever the fifth or maybe sixth member maybe...we only got a clipse of Jean's childhood in TLS, so maybe seeing the death of Annie would clear up a lot(Phoenix wise), Scott's origin, as well as Storm/Beast...

the new kids in X3 wouldnt work cause Rogue is powerless, and Angel didnt join the team at the end so whats the point???

Their is a lot of history with the original X-Men that needs 2 told and now that Logan is out of the picture this is the time to do it....

I agree with that. Screentime was an issue. I'd go for that but I am still against this movie with that writer and Fox behind it.

even if Marvel did get the rights back and restarted the franchise. Marvel wouldnt only use the O5.
it would probably still make money with O5, but people will want to see the characters that the x-men are known for. and im pretty sure the fans will complain saying "wheres storm or wolverine" and "another film where colossus isnt involved"

I wouldnt be surprise if a Marvel reboot started with Whedons astonishing team. (its more or less up to date and its fresh.)

I say start with the O5 (and film sequels together) for sure then branch of and add characters like Wolvie, Nightcrawler, and Storm in the second subsequent sequel. I'd love if they did a reboot and corected some of the mistakes made by the original franchise.

Yeah. I'd like them to reboot, start with the o5, add the "Giant-Sized" team in the sequel, maybe spin it off into an X-Factor movie after, then come back with the 90s Jim Lee era team.

Totally agreed.

If they call the movie "X-men origins: First class" it will include young Scott, Jean, Storm, Beast.... and about a new one.... maybe Emma.

dude, listen to reason. they're already making two prequels attached to the established continuity. not only would having First Class with the O-5 clash with the franchise, but it will confuse anyone who isn't already familiar of X-Men history.

only way to make an O-5 movie, is to put the entire franchise on hiatus until its out of everyone's minds and start over.

Unless Fox is considering a reboot and a complete dismissal of the current franchise continuity (Wolverine spin-offs and all), then First Class should not include the original five. Until then, no original five.

No more confusing than Batman Begins 7 years after Batman & Robin.

yea id say 8 years is plenty of time to reboot a dead franchise. thats an example of the hiatus i was talking about. you're talking about restarting 2-3 years after the last still successful sequel alongside 2 prequels of the same continuity.
