I am honestly shocked at some of the comments worrying about the armor before we've even seen a post-production copy yet, let's also keep in mind "angles" people..... And this mess about touching up the guy's muscles..... This isn't Tobey McGuire we're talking about here. This is Chris Hemsworth, all 6'3 220+ pounds of him who's been working out hardcore for the last 8 months with the best trainers money can buy. Even if there is the slightest bit of shading, it's mentioned like it's trying to hide him from looking puny or something.
no matter how big those actors get they will need a muscle suit under the suit.

the muscle suit is the reason the muscles dont get compressed and the characters allways look like heroes.

there is a logical reason why they allways use muscle suits. google it.

Ya, for actors of smaller build. I'm google'ing but haven't seen any mention of all actors having to wear one.

Thor's arm looks way more muscular to me than a normal person's arm clothed in metallic sleeves would look.

But that's because it's not metallic sleeves.....it's made to look that way, but it obviously isn't.

Stop worrying about it. Everything will be alright...say it with me now!:oldrazz:

Looks very dramatic and opera like. The way it should be. Still trying to figure out what this gash looking thing is:

Very much reminds me of some of the old Germanic Mjolnir pendants:

I'm cool with everything overall but i would have done without the sleeves. It brings the quality level down for the sake of recreating Coipel. and that is the size of his arms there is no padding. it lookes like some formfitting hose.

he has a muscle suit not to give him muscle mass or size. its there for filming reasons and to give him allways a look of pumped muscles. heroic, cool and cinematic.

Still don't see any proof of that.

Which is...good.

No, it's bad. Considering that the comics just cross hatch over grey to save time...

I very much hope it is just due to the blurryness of the image and that in actuality it IS metalic scale-mail rather than what it looks like.

if you think i am talking about a thick suit under the thor suit then we are not on the same page.

its a thin extra suit. maybe its even part of the thor suit. look at the material on hes arm. if this was above normal skin there would be folds and it would bend on the wrong places.

its there to control the thor suit and to make it look heroic and perfect.

Looks amazing! :wow:

To quote a certain fast-food mega franchise; " I'm lovin' it!" :thor:

It can't actually be made of metal, or it would be very hard to prevent the crew, etc from showing up as a reflection in it. This was a major problem and time consumer with C-3PO when filming the Star Wars movies, for example.

They will add some sheen to it in post to make it appear metallic.

dont you see fans want chris hemsworth to walk around in 200 pounds of metal while beaming lights and cameras are filming in a sound stage!!!!!!

It probably isn't but Batman's costume isn't actual armor and Iron Man's armor isn't even metal. Staying faithful to the comics isn't bad (especially when the design's that good. You're actually one of the first detractor's of Coipel's design I've seen here.). Yes, it probably is rubber but I'm sure it'll come off metallic on screen. Actor's gotta move and breathe.

Yeah, I know. I'm not saying I care what material it is actually made of. I just hope it Looks like metal on screen. More so than in this photo.

I think he looks bad ass. Not even a Thor fan and I'm quite looking forward to this.

This is not a photo that has been touched up or a picture from a photo shoot, it is just a shot from on set featuring Hemsworth as Thor.

If so then that's a good sign. But I'd rather they had used a fully finished photo for the big reveal...

To each his own. I think it looks fantastic and I'm sure it'll look even better after post. It's pretty much the comics' version of Thor come to life (with a beard). :)

You're a hard one to please haha. What part of them talking about releasing "set pics" did you miss? The post-production photos come much much further down the pipe.

At least you're getting the gist of the look ....

No, just something that looks like metal and not rubber. maybe with a little wear and kinks on it so it doesn't look like it just came out of a mold.
Obviously how it actually moves, and how looks in motion and after any affects are added will be the deciding factors. but nobody is saying he should be wearing a real armored suit.

........and since we haven't seen the effects yet, there's no reason to complain. Just a thought. This was a set picture to give us all an idea of the style of costume he was going to wear.
