Man, I was sorta hyped for this at first, but now that we have our first official pic, my anticipation is growing.

Still, I just have this feeling that's what will happen, whether it's a good thing or not.
It's not a good thing. Absolutely, unequivocally not.

Marvel would be out of their minds to go from badass Coipel inspired costume, to the lame Techno Viking costume that is Ultimate Thor. That's like thinking, after we got two badass Iron Man Movie designs based on Adi Granov's Extremis work, that they give him the Manga Mecha inspired Ultimate Armor once he joins the Avengers.

It's just not going to happen.

When it comes to costume accuracy, Marvel rarely disappoints. DC (in conjunction w/ Warner Bros.), on the other hand, always has to do their own thing -- regardless of what the fans think.

here is is in all its glory!!!

:wow:......truly excellent

I love how they've updated materials while preserving the comic-look. Thor was one character I was kinda scratching my head over in regards to how he'd translate to live action, but this pic goes a long way towards easing that. Even the liberties they've taken just serve to make it even more Kirby-like. By that I mean the black torso area.... while it strays from Kirby's classic Thor design(which was always one of his more simplified designs) it bears alot of similarity to his general design sense for characters like the other Asgardians, Inhumans, Eternals, New Gods, etc....what with the intricate layering and even those 3 little jagged points where the cape is attached. It also has a bit of resemblance to the Thor design in the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 video game, with the layered look and the disks being inlaid into rather than on top of the torso area. Makes me wonder if the game designers were allowed a sneak peek at some of the movie designs

Dude, imagine if we get the first Avenger trailer. Then picture if someone yells "AVENGERS! ASSEMBLE!"

Yeah. Picture that. Now go change your underwear.

You now they'll have that!! :awesome::awesome:

Well at least I hope so :O

Bring on Cap! Gotta see Chris Evans Cap NOW!!

HELLS YES!!!

Since no one else has done it, I thought I would.....

Forgive the crappy hair , I only took about 2 minutes on this.

Oh wow... Nice work!

Absolutely lame!
I always knew they should have used Ultimate Thor from the very beginning.
It's going to bomb.
And no, I'm not a troll because I really wanted "Thor" to be a success.

They were pretty accurate with Superman's costume, albeit with a weird color combination. For Batman, people actually seem to prefer the more practical, armored costumes of the movies over the classic comic look.

Can't wait for the moneyshot of Thor afloat wearing his helmet and Mjolnir in hand, cape unfurled in the wind summoning lightning.

I have this feeling that Thor will be in his Ultimate costume for The Avengers.

Commercially, it seems counter-productive to establish one look for the character in one movie then change it the next time he's seen.

Thor is one of those lesser-known characters that Marvel needs to set a look for, establish the brand and then go with. I really doubt they'd want to change his look, especially in subsequent movies if they're trying to establish him as a commercial entity at all.

There's no need for updating technology or anything really from this look...there's really no reason to change to his Ultimate look.

It depends on who you ask I guess. Personally, I think we've yet to get our definitive Batman on the big screen. Don't get me wrong; I love the Nolan films with Christian Bale, but there's certainly room for improvement. That said, I think we can eventually get a costume [on film] that comes closer to the comics version without looking like pajamas. The intent has to be there though.

I mean, just look at that pic of Thor! I never imagined they could get his look quite right on film, but that's spot on!! Sure, there are some practical changes here and there, but not to the extent that the character is nigh unrecognizable.

I LOVE that they incorporated the crazy way his cape flares up above his shoulders, just like it's always been drawn. That's a little detail that they could have gotten lazy on and skipped, and I might not have even noticed.

I think the look for the film was inspired by a few different styles. After all, Coipel wasn't the first guy to go with "armored sleeves" for Thor.

Remember this?

That's probably my favorite part of it :thor::up:

I like how they designed the six disks on his torso. Looks very impressive. IMO, the entire look they're going for is awesome.

my favorite part...the whole frakking thing

heh You've never seen that Anubis?
