Flipping houses

Anyone done it? My girlfriend sells real estate and she's been trying to get me into this for a while now. On the one hand, it sounds like it could be fun and an easy way to make money. On the other hand, it sounds like it could be a nightmare and an easy way to lose your shirt. If you've done it, tell me your experiences.

With the way the used house market is going I wouldn't think now is the time for something like this.

Well, it depends entirely on your local market, I'm sure. And anyway, when things are a bit depressed you can probably get more bargains.

That's true as well, I know around here the used market is rough. The new homes market is doing amazingly well though.

But, your right in that it could be a good way to get a deal, but you may have a hard time selling later depending on your area.

That's true. She says she'd only let me buy houses that she knew would sell. I'd have to depend on her discretion.

Well, you could always continue to save money and I'm sure in a couple of years the market should spring back a bit. Then you'd have more money and hopefully a favorable environment for flipping...houses that is...not the bird. Yes, I know, that was dry as toast.

I wouldnt give up hope , you always hear about people who are sucessful because they took a chance.
