Sorry if this is the wrong place for this...feel free to move it. But I figured it's kind of sorta related to films.

Concession stands...over-priced, low quality food. Why would anyone pay $5.00 for a bottle of water when they can go to a store and buy two bottles and some candy for the same price?

I went to see the Losers on Friday and ended up smuggling in some stuff and it got me thinking...there must be some interesting stories of what people have smuggled in. Who wants to share?

For me...I once smuggled in two extra large bags of M&M's, two 2-liter bottles of coke and two large hersey chocolate bars. It was for me and a friend and I was the only one with pockets...luckily I have a lot of pockets. =D

are you kidding me? No one has any good stories?

Yeah!

I once had a Mars bar with me.

I put it in my pocket.

during the movie I took it out.
And I ate it.

:)

One time some scumbags brought in chinese food and another time some one brought in chicken.

That crosses the line with me because I don't care to be smelling that stuff while watching a movie, it's too strong. My gf and I forgot to eat before seeing a movie so we stopped by McDonalds(sadly)on the way there. I ate my burgers while driving but she wanted to bring them in the theatre...I gave her a hell no and she ended up eating the food in the car.

Somebody brought in several bottles of Jamaican lager one time at the theater I work at. I don't have a problem with it unless it's extremely messy or otherwise hard to clean up.

The only thing I won't smuggle is popcorn, I actually prefer movie popcorn...but the rest of that stuff is price gouging at it's best.

one of my friends sunk in fried shrimp and hot sauce from the Chinese place at the food court. The entire theater stunk of it. hahaha :woot:

my buddy always brings the pop corn bag back since if you buy a large you get free refills, so he's pretty much getting free popcorn from here on out. they used to mark the bottom of the bag so that people wouldnt get more than one refill but apparently they've stopped. i just bring my own drink

I was forced to hold 4 bottles of Snapple Lemon flavors in my jacket. None of my friends had jackets except for me.

I still can't believe I got through to this day. My stomach area looked obviously abnormal but no one ever noticed.

I once carried a duffel bag full of stuff into my local theatre without anyone saying anything:hehe:

That's the kind of **** that pisses me off. You're friend is now a scumbag in my eyes.

I hope for your health's sake you do don't go to the movies often. :csad:

Is it that hard to go 2 hours without shoving something in your mouth? If the prices are too high then don't buy 'em. The theaters have a policy of no outside food it's their place not yours, if you can't wait through the course of a movie to get back to Hoovering up whatever it is you are into then don't go to the movies.

I hate it when people smuggle food into movies. Tacky, tacky, tacky.

My mom used to own a bowling alley, so I understand how bad it is for someone to smuggle food into a place that already has a snack bar.

The only concession food I buy from them is popcorn. I buy my drinks from a nearby drug store. Or I already eat before the movie.

I bring my own drinks. Why would I wanna pay $5 for a small soda:o

I brought in a large Italian sub from Lenny's (15" of sandwich) with a couple beers. Thankfully it was winter so it wasn't odd wearing my coat. I figure knock out the movie and lunch at the same time.

My friends and I brought some of our Scooby Snacks into a theater one time.

my friends brought in vodka once. I think one of them puked during the credits.

I used to work the door at a movie theatre and stopped people from bringing in outside food all the time. People would try and walk in with bags of burgers and fries from MacDonalds or Burger King, then complain when I wouldn't let them past the doors. I'd just say "Read the sign". There were signs everywhere that read "No Outside Food Or Drink".

However, if people actually made an honest effort to hide the food from me, I'd let them take the food in. I mean seriously, take an empty backpack to the MacDonalds with you then put all your bags of burgers and fries in the backpack. Stop by a corner store and pick up some bottles of pop and stick them in your backpack.

Here's a little hint folks: Most movie theatres aren't allowed to search your backpacks! So if you want to smuggle food in, that's the way to do it.

I smuggle food in all the time. The reason? The mark up on the food at the theatre is f**kin' rediculous! I studied to be a chef, I know how to do foodcosting. Do you know how much it costs to make a single hotdog with the works? Using retail prices, it's only $0.35/hotdog! Which means wholesale it's probably around $0.20/hotdog! And how much does the theatre charge for a single dog? $5.00! They could charge $2.00 each and still make a huge profit, but instead they charge $5.00! And that was ten years ago. It's probably up to six or seven dollars now. And popcorn? Literally pennies a bag, including the cost of the bag! And they charge five or six dollars for a small? A small! And they don't even carry my favorite movie time snack at the concession stand . . . Caramel Popcorn! So I gotta buy that elsewhere and smuggle it in.

So I don't feel bad about smuggling in my own food. I'm just smart about it. And I rarely smuggle in things like burgers, pizza, etc, anymore, because all the big multiplexes nowadays have Burger Kings, Pizza Huts, and Taco Bells right in the theatre, and the prices are the same as they are at the restaurants outside the theatres (they have to be, they're not allowed to vary the prices from branch to branch), so those things are a moot point. I still smuggle in my own pop, etc though.

Eating during a movie is distracting. If I'm starving or got there really early and have time to kill I'll get a popcorn with a drink and finish it before the movie even starts.

It's interesting that there isn't some sort of government controlled price regulation group that ensures things like this don't happen. Pretty sure there isn't...but there should be.

I usually sneak in a drink and like a candy bar or two i get from the dollar store near it. I usually only get stuff from the theater If I have a coupon from using my movie card. and with so many things you get a free soda, popcorn and movie after a while.

I remember this one time someone brought in fried chicken and it was wrapped in foil and it made such a noise. They also had a big bag of potato chips.

When I went to see The Dark Knight, I bought some Dippiin Dots or something at the concession stand. I was promptly told 15 seconds later to eat it or throw it out, as food was not permitted in the theater. That's the last time I went to that particular theater.
