Potted Meat Food Product

I7fyZMO.jpg

For those who have not have heard of this tasty delicacy (or are cowards and afraid to click on the link), Potted Meat is an inexpensive, fully cooked and preserved flesh-colored meat paste widely available across the United States (I am unsure of it's presence elsewhere in the world). It occupies a similar culinary niche as Spam, Vienna Sausage and Deviled Ham, and is produced by a variety of snackmongers such as Armour, Hormel and Libby's. Potted Meat Food Product is borne from a combination of various ingredients, including but not limited to:

mechanically separated chicken
beef tripe
beef hearts
partially defatted cooked beef fatty tissue
pork skin
partially defatted cooked pork fatty tissue
meat broth
the hobo that used to live near the underpass on Route 9
water
the tears of an angel from the time of the Fall of Lucifer
vinegar, salt* & other preservatives

Intriguing, no? Would you like to know more? How about a picture?

Personally I don't even bother with utensils. I just scoop it right out of the can with Ritz crackers. Yum!

Here we have three wads of this salty treat, having recently broken free from their aluminum cages and photographed while escaping into the wilderness to start a new life. Will they breed out there in the darkness, far from the watchful eyes and tyranny of men? Who can say?

This fellow seems to be gazing back at us as it rests upon the cold metal prison housing one of it's kin. Is it trying to communicate with us? Perhaps it is merely observing, staring deep down into our souls. We can only pray that it does not find us lacking in honor or morality.

Do you have a particular cuisine you enjoy that gives your friends, family, coworkers and/or complete strangers the dry heaves? Share it here for the benefit and entertainment of your fellow Community members.

*Like, reallyreally salty. One tiny can has something like 1/3 to 1/2 of your recommended daily allowance of sodium. Ancient Egyptians used to mummify people in this stuff. True story.

Looks like some f***ing cat food.

I like sushi. None of my friends do though.

My little brother hates peas for some reason. Peas. Mutha****ing peas. Green peas.

But he's cool with corn for some reason.

Corn is awesome and delicious.

Onions and mushrooms. I also like Indian food.

HAHA easy ! snail and oysters and frog legs.

PS : I extended the "around you" to "the countries around yours" :)

I like Braunschweiger with Ketchup on crackers. It is very good but almost everyone I know is afraid to try it.

I love frog legs! It's a Chinese delicacy too, usually stir-fried or cooked together with porridge (and it truly taste like chicken). I don't love but quite like kimchi and other fermented dishes in Korean cuisine. Even amongst non-Korean East-Asian friends it's an acquired taste.

Apparently I'm one of the few people I know that likes Spam.

Like... you would feed it to a cat, or there might be a cat in it?

Because it could go either way.

Onions and mushrooms.

I like onion flavor, and I don't mind those little reconstituted ones McDonalds or White Castle use on their burgers, and if I puree raw onion into a paste and stir it into whatever I'm making it's fine, but I can't do actual onion chunks. Raw or cooked or whatever, no dice.

Those and green bell peppers. They go down, and then they come right back up.

Dude I would totally try snail and frog legs if I had the chance. Not oysters, though. Hell no.

Corn is awesome and delicious.

You're not wrong.

I like Braunschweiger

Augh!

with Ketchup on crackers.

AUGHHHBBLLLHOOAH!

Apparently I'm one of the few people I know that likes Spam.

I can eat it but don't actively seek it out. My dad loves it. Also it's a big thing in Hawaii, apparently. That's always seemed weird.

Bananas.
I love 'em when they're spotted, not so much before that.

Strawberry icecream.
As much as I love strawberries, can't stand the taste of strawberry icecream.
Fish.

I hate fish.
All kinds? You poor poor fellow.

Tomatoes. I can't stand them.
A sandwich is never complete without a slice or 2 of tomatoes.

Eww, see...it was the first. But now, it could be the second. Or worse, it's both.

Worms on pizza?

I prefer a certain type of dill pickle chips that everyone else can't stand.
