For those of you who ENJOYED the movie ... post your thoughts here ...

Was it Zarathos or was it kind of a Hellfire-Enhanced Johnny?

When he said "Back to Hell!" and "Look into my eyes!" I thought it was Zarathos.

But when he said "You're pissing me off" and "Yee-ha!" I thought it was Hellfire-Enhanced Johnny.

It was almost like two different characters and it confused me.

Either way, I agree with you, Dorky, in that he mastered it too easily.

Well the thing the movie didnt show was Zarathos and Johnny are constantly battling each other inside to gain control of the body. So i think it was just that whenever GR did something Johnnyish, it was just Johnny getting brief control over Zarathos. But IMO, whenever he battled the Hidden, he was always Zarathos.

What are you talking about? Zarathos isn't even in the movie!

there was definitely no learning curve with his abilities, everyone wants to see a proper learning curve.

The one thing i did really like was the carter slade and johnny blaze riding sequence at night time, really awesome...

everything else was meh...

Yeah, IN THE COMICS. But even I, a GR connoisseur, saw no trace of Zarathos in the entire movie.

It should be assumed its Zarathos unless otherwise revealed due to the fact its common knowledge that JB was possessed by Zarathos. IMO it would be foolish for them to have it any other way.

common knowledge is knowing that Spider-Man is swings through the city, Superman has superstrength and Batman uses gadgets. the average movie-goer knows those things...

....the average movie-goer has probably never even HEARD of Zarathos let alone know that GR is JB possessed by him. therefor...it is NOT common knowledge.

The average movie goer didn't even SAW a Zarathos. Assumed? That's stupid. It's like making a Daredevil movie without mentioning at any moment that he is blind.

My bad, I meant common knowledge among us not the general pop. I guess i was just trying to say that sense the public doesn't really know, there is no need to not have him be zarathos. For 1 it would be more consistant to the comics and for 2 I believe the whole deal about Zarathos will be easiear to understand and more of a clean, unincombered story to be revealed in a later film. They could either stay with the source material and maintain its a demon named zarathos or they could run off into the medallion and noble kale stuff which i believe would be a nightmare.

Just because there was no trace of him in the movie doesnt mean he wasnt there, he just hasnt been explored yet. And if it wasnt Zarathos, how do you explain Johnny being someone who doesnt want to hurt anyone, turning into a badass demon hunter because his head goes on fire.

I'm sure Zarathos will be mentioned in a sequel though.

I hope so. Especially Zarathos trying to take control over Johnny. It'd make for an interesting story element, it'd explain things better, and it'd fit the darker direction I hope any sequel will take.

:yay:

I think the evil laughs are a good hint of Zarathos...

Yeah me too, i'd like to see a mind battle between the two somewere down the line like the one in Hulk

zarathos HIMSELF, isnt the spirit of vengeance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zarathos

Him and Johnny combined are then. BUT, they are still seperate entities, and at night, when he turns, i think it is more Zarathos than Johnny, though some of Johnny still come's through, like in the scene with Roxanne and the cops.

I think the evil laughs are a good hint of Zarathos...

That and more. Flipping the bird, the evil laughs, the pleasure he takes in bringing down the hidden, and just any badass things the Ghost Rider does in the movie is Zarathos IMO. As MSJ explained in an interview, Johnny is a good guy who doesnt want to hurt anybody, thats why he's such a sharp contrast to the Ghost Rider, as the GR is essentially a bad mother****er.

AVEITWITHJAMON, I agree with all your posts. All of you should read the comics and get subscriptions to Ghost Rider ASAP..........that means Now. Do it soon please. P.S. Where is the thread to the Chuck norris GHost Rider "sayings" That was awesome :cwink:

It certainly does help understand some things in the movie if you have been a reader of the comics, hopefully more people will give them a read.
