Who thinks that Smallville should be one of the 52 multiverses? I certainly do. It's very much in its own universe from the comics, movies and such. Plus, the show has lasted longer than any show based on DC comics. And the fact that they have introduced the Justice League, Impulse, Aquaman, Cyborg, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, Supergirl, Brainiac, Zod, Bizzaro, Mxyzptlk (even though that one kind of sucked), Perry White, Lois Lane, Maggie Sawyer, Jimmy Olsen and more in a very unique way. I think it would be a great idea for DC to include SV in the 52. If it was, they could have comic series' set in the Smalville universe, with characters we havent, or couldnt, see on the show (like Batman). What are your thoughts?

Umm no, lets leave the comics a tad bit untainted. At least birthright was original.

I'd love to see a sequel to Birthright. Have a series of graphic novels that continue the story from Birthright. Cuz Birthright was sort of DC's take on an Ultimate Superman story. (Not All-Star Supes) Is All Star Supes any good?

All-Star is the best Superman comic right now. Also Birthright was suppose to be the start of DC Ultimate line but in the middle of it they changed it to Superman's origin.

I could see SV as one of the 52 worlds along with Nolan's Batman and Donner/Singer's Superman. But the problem is they are saying that they may get rid of the 52 worlds doing final crisis or a good chunk of them.

untainted? have you picked up a Superman comic in the last 15 years? (and you do know that Waid based Birthright in part off of Smallville, right?)

Once again at a comic-con Waid flat out said he did not base Birthright off of SV. In fact he said the single greatest thing to come from SV was that they made the Kents young instead of old and thats all he took from the show.

I dont why when something is different than the main comics canon its gonna be referred to as a alternate universe or some kooky geek ****. How about poor interpretation instead?

If it is its own seperate world then why the hell not? Honestly.

I dont think this show has anything to do with the multi-verse

and if it is....well then I guess were gonna need another Crisis.

Haha.

But I seriously doubt all 52 Earths will survive Final Crisis; so unless you want to see the SV Universe destroyed, it probably isnt the best idea.

On a side note, it really annoys me that DC feels it needs to make so many crisis events and bring back and kill of multiverses. Its not gonna smooth out any timelines. Ever since 1985 when they did the first one they have put way too much emphasis on this aspect and its pointless because people can suspend there disbelief and buy into different interpretations of the same canons. We dont need "universes" to explain it.

Its because Didio and his buddies are clueless hacks who are obviously doing this yearly crisis nonsense to sell issues and make money.

I havent picked up or read a comic in a year after coming to that realization.

I mean I still pick up Countdown and 52 because they seem lay the groundwork for the basic outline of the DC Universe at the moment and as I person who falls in and out comic books every 4 years or so I'd like to get an idea of where its at, but they are trying too hard. Still the same could be said about Marvel. They have good concepts for major events but dont seem to execute well in the end and have a justified pay off ( Civil War), still at least they got something brewing (though I think most people are split about Initiative and WWH)

I dont know if theyve gotten better but the comics after Infinite Crisis started to suck, so I lost interest.

52 was good, Countdown not so much from what I hear (still catching up)
