Er, there's a s**t ton of snobbery in this business. For every humble A-list star there are 10 B-list ones who are full of themselves. Same goes for directors. It's exhausting talking to those jokers.

And I wouldn't call crappy direct to video actioners art. They're cheap, quick cash grabs. Only difference between them and stuff like Paranoia is the film makers behind those aren't pretending to be putting out something bigger/better.

Stuff like this and innumerable other films prove that your film being projected in a theater isn't by itself a badge of quality. Something Direct to DVD can very easily be better. Also starring in a theatrical film doesn't mean the actor is actor better than actors who have done Direct to DVD films.

There isn't just snobbery in the business but even amongst the fans sadly.

Bingo. He fell down the same gorgeous tree as his brother but missed the charisma branch on the way down.

They put four gratuitous shirtless scenes in here along with a forced sex scene, and I wonder if all that was added after they started filming when they realized his limitations.

Personally I would have cast Robert Pattinson in the role.

Because Robert Pattinson is a better, more charismatic actor?

I think Pattinson is stiff as a board.

So far R-Patz has been kinda boring on screen, not terrible just meh. He would only be a very slight upgrade from Hemsworth mostly because he looks more convincing as an intelligent tech guy. I haven't seen the film but it looks more like a case of a mixture of miscasting and a green lead.

And Amber Heard can't get a decent role to save her life. She's a decent enough actress but her very pretty but non descript looks just leave you forgetting that she was in a film. I've been hearing about Heard for years and yet she still hasn't had a break out role. I'm a little sick of hearing about her to be honest but I guess I'll be hearing more since she is Johnny Depp's midlife cri-I mean girlfriend.

I thought being the girlfriend in Pineapple Express was her breakout role. :o

I don't think Pattinson can act his way out of a paper bag or convey any emotion whatsoever.

But I don't think Kristen Stewart can either (and I'm not just basing that on Twilight), and she has a lot of indie cred and quite a few critics view her as a talented actress.

Not knowing either personally, of course, I think the difference is Chris tries with his roles, no matter how crappy the script or premise, and Liam just coasts on his looks. I don't think he puts in the effort. He's content to be "Handsome actor #34789880002".

Amber Heard was good in the Rum Diary.

I'll tell you this: She was damn sexy in that movie. There was a part when Johnny Depp's character was peaking at her as she was chopping some vegetables in the kitchen. Then she glances up at him and my god, there was such a beautiful glance that even I had to droll.

It was so simple too. It was distant stare that can stop cars.

:funny: He's 23, maybe he will get better but still not be right for lead roles.

Deadline Hollywood has early numbers and they are pretty dismal. 1.3mil and the movie cost 35mil to make. So not a big budget movie but still an epic fail.

Wasn't she also on that Playboy show or whatever it was?

Yep she was on The Playboy Club. She's not a bad actress actually.

I think Stewart was great in the Runaways as Joan Jett. She just doesn't really get roles with range with mainsteam movies the ways the she gets it with indie movies.

Pattinson I like, but not as much as an actor as I do just because he arguable hates Twilight more than anyone else. :funny:

He's had chances, but he hasn't done much with them, unfortunately.

He was good as Cedric Diggory IMHO.

I agree. She acts the same in the movies I've seen her in.

Heck no he's not. All these guys like Hutcherson, Hemsworth Jr, Logan Lerman, etc are being forced into leading roles they outright don't belong in. Not sure why they keep doing that.

Logan Lerman is a good actor and he was amazing as the lead in Perks of Being a Wallflower, Hutcherson is good too.

Only reason to see this are Ford and Oldman at each other's throats and hamming it up. That and maybe looking at Heard in the love scenes.

i need to ask . why so much debate about a cheap small scale movie with an unknown guy?

Lerman was very, very good in Perks, but I feel he's a low-key character actor who's better-suited and more at home in character-oriented drama like that when they try to shove him into fantasy action hero leading man stuff like Percy Jackson.

That's exactly my point. Perks was my favorite movie of 2012 and Lerman was incredible in it... but that doesn't mean he should thrust into leading man action roles. He's terrible in Percy Jackson. Moreso in Three Musketeers. They tried to do the same thing with Jim Sturgess. Solid acting chops does not equal action oriented leading man.
