Superman Returns Forget The Godfather????

I knew one of those movies didn't fit in the with the rest.

Some of my favorite movies would include The Godfather, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Empire Strikes Back, The Shawshank Redemption, The Usual Suspects, Casablanca, Fellowship of the Ring, Hero, and Saving Private Ryan

I agree with every one of those except LOTR. In fact, those films are at least in my top 20. Casablanca is infact in my top 5. Some more of my favorites are Red River, Jaws, 12 O'Clock High, Superman, Patton, and The Right Stuff.

Some trivia, Singer's production company is named 'Bad Hat Harry', which is a line from Jaws. Brody says to some old guy on the beach, "that's some bad hat, Harry..."

To each his own. I just happen to think that Fellowship (not so much the other two) was a triumph in filmmaking. I see that film on the same level I see the original Star Wars which is fitting as I equate WETA with ILM.

You hate it?

It's overrated?

I do think it's overrated, although I also think it's the standard for film adaptations of fantasy.

I thought King Kong was better than all 3 LOTR movies together.

Never seen all of the Godfather, don't wanna.
I've tried to watch it, but it got SOOOOOO boring.
I sat through LOTR:ROTK three times, and never went to the bathrroom, and never got bored.
I'd rather watch Superman IV more than the Godfather.

Who knows how many times I've seen Godfather. When I saw Two Towers in the theatre, I almost fell asleep. I had to watch ROTK episodically. I kept thinking it was going to end and then it would go on and on and I'd have to turn it off.

The Godfather is one of the most perfect films in history; wonderfully paced and acted with great dialogue and a terrific story. Not to mention it's completely overflowing with memorable scenes, dialogue, and characters.

I think it's possible for Superman Returns to be better than The Godfather or any other classic film masterpiece.

I just don't think it's going to happen.

Here's to hoping I eat my words June 30th.

Too much CG :)
That and girls I liked kept gushing about Orlando Bloom so I had no choice but to hate the movie.

Very valid complaint, right there...

Wow.

Wow.

You don't realize how annoying it can be to hear endless talk about Orlando. It was really that bad. And we're talking mid-20 somethings, not highschool.

My top three films are probably Citizen Kane, 7 Samurai, and City Lights. I've never understood why John Ford's The Searchers is considered such a classic though. Can anyone explain? Seems like a run of the mill Ford film and John Wayne western.

Ok, in no perticular order;

The Godfather, The Usual Suspects, Memento (no one has mentioned this one yet, come on, genius) American Werewolf in London (just a wonderful gem this one was, no cgi what so ever, gotta love it) The Shawshank Redemption, Apocalypse Now, Superman the Movie (any film with "The Movie" in the totle sounds good, that is if it is not a cartoon, or made in the '90s) um, hmm, I'm sure there's more, but these are my favourites that would also constitute great films imo.

As for other favourites inc Batman '89, Batman Begins, Alien, TMNT, man I'm a geek.

One more thing, Orlando Bloom is a whiney ass pu$$y!

Godfather is a damn good movie. But i think i prefer Godfather II, seriously! And for those who like Godfather, you guys should watch a movie called "Once upon a time in America". Its good too!!
