I can't wait to see Thor swinging that giant Stormbreaker around. His fighting style always privileged the use of a weapon and now with him being able to trully be a powerhouse without any assistance it will be interesting seeing how cool all the combined set of skills and a worthy weapon is going to look.

His fighting style with the new weapon will change considerably just because of the significant difference between Mjolnir and Stormbreaker. I'm expecting some insanely epic stuff of a Beast Mode Thor going wild with Stormbreaker.

A taste of how it might look...

I just realized that Surtur destroys Asgard pretty much the same way as Thor destroys Sokovia. "You are a destroyer, Odinson."

Just the dimension of imagery in the MCU is so damn consistent. The wood chopping scene between Tony & Steve from Age of Ultron also foreshadows Stormbreaker.

The woodchopping scene actually foreshadowed the revelation of Steve's dark side in Civil War, where Tony learned that Steve knew that Barnes had murdered his parents and kept that information to himself. Steve berated Tony for keeping secrets from the rest of the team while hypocritically withholding crucial facts himself. "Maybe you just haven't seen it yet," is one of the most tragic -- and true -- things that any Marvel hero has ever said about himself.

Uhm, yeah, whaaaat? :oldrazz:

That scene was pure Steve/Tony tension and ideological differences hinting at Civil War, nothing to do with Thor whatsoever.

Definitely looking forward to his fighting style with it. If it does have Mjolnir's properties of returning to him then I think for sure we'll have an awesome spinning axe attack.

I do hope he can still do lightning punches though. Imagine him throwing Stormbreaker after imbuing it with lightning, thus creating one electric and slashing deathtrap in one part of the battlefield, while Thor himself is throwing out lightning with his bare hands in another spot, racking up massive Outrider kills.

"Thor didn't say where he was looking for answers?"

I'm reaching I know, but I find it funny that later he'll be on a quest to wield an axe.

"Asgard is it's people,not a place"

Hopefully that large black ship that the Asgardians refugees will not have it's occupants decimated in an upcoming film. :ninja:

I'm hoping with that quote in mind, that with most of his people killed off by Thanos, that Thor absorbs the essence of his fallen Asgardians and becomes more powerful.

yes yes yes!

That would be kind of creepy, like vampire-y creepy. And it would lead to all sorts of scary implications about power. I hope not.

And hopefully not too Vampire-y cause then Blade will be hunting Thor....

And it might draw another Sparkles into the story, and who wants to see Edward again?

LOVE the whole taunting and naming of Thor by Grandmaster but yeah not want to see THAT Vampire on screen. :funny:

And he will get one-shotted in the process.

Very good, interesting and insightful interview with Chris Hemsworth about IW.
Some really juice nuggets of information and potential hints of what happens to Thor... Potential mild spoilers.

Chris Hemsworth is Thor at his best in the April 27 film Avengers: Infinity War

How did the Russo brothers explain Thor’s role in this film to you?

Anthony and Joe said that the Thor: Ragnarok Thor probably won’t fit in this film. You can afford to take bigger risks and be that wacky and reinvent the entire world to support your version of the character if it’s your title film. But if you come into an ensemble, like Infinity War, you need to adjust and fit into the mould and the tone of that film. And this really is Thor at his best, as Joe and Anthony described it. This is the most heroic, most vengeful, passionate, driven, committed version of Thor that we’ve seen. So, it was fun to again explore something completely different.

Have you ever reflected on your Marvel cinematic journey with Tom Hiddleston?

Yes. Tom and I talk all the time about the crazy journey that we’ve been on and the growth that we’ve had as individuals and as actors, and also as these characters, and what a trip the whole thing has been and how lucky we are. I think back to the first time we met, and it was at Kenneth Branagh’s house in London. He had flown us out there for a workshop on the script and the characters for the first Thor. But I think there’s not a single cast member in this film that doesn’t acknowledge and appreciate this journey and sort of pinch themselves at what an opportunity we’ve all had and what an amazing thing to be a part of.

Do you relish the fact that you’ve been able to flesh out a character over so many films?

I love the fact that we’ve been all given the opportunity to do something different each time and put our ideas forward. And to have an opportunity to attack a character again and hopefully advance on that and bring something unique to it each time is a real challenge. But if you can pull it off, it’s pretty creatively satisfying.

Where is Thor before Infinity War?

We end Thor: Ragnarok with a rather large spaceship approaching. We then pick it up in Avengers: Infinity War in the middle of a battle.

How does Thor encounter the Guardians?

The Guardians basically are flying through space and pick up Thor. There is this interesting confusion and then fascination and heightened tension between all of them because no one knows who the other one is or what they are doing. That was so much fun to play, because a lot of us came into this film as big fans of each other’s franchises.
To stand there amongst the Guardians was a bit of a fanboy moment for me. It was also kind of nerve-wracking as I felt strangely uncomfortable and wondered how I fit into this puzzle. It was great. We were able to improvise a bit and play around with that. It brought out the unique qualities in all of our characters purely from just having someone different involved.

Did you rehearse that scene?

There was no rehearsing. We turned up, shook hands, introduced one another, and started shooting. It needed to be that way because that’s how it was for the characters. So if it can kind of blend into one another in that sense then it’s a huge benefit. There seems to be far less ego in a setting like this than you’d imagine.

What separates Thanos from typical Marvel villains?

There is certainly a common theme with a lot of villains of that scale and size that are trying to save humanity from itself and save us from ourselves. But it’s done in a very brutal fashion. What I haven’t seen before is this force and this power by one single individual. And it’s not only Thanos’s intellect that manages to navigate his way through this and outsmart us, but just his sheer force and strength is something that none of the Avengers or anyone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ever really encountered before. Even just reading the script, I was kind of racing to the end to work out how the hell we were going to beat this guy.

What is his ultimate goal?

Thanos believes that we’ve overpopulated the universe, and that we’re destroying it at a rapid rate. So he’s taken it upon himself to reduce us in numbers. Therefore, that should mean there would be enough food for everybody, enough land, enough whatever. Currently, it’s spread too thin in his eyes. So it was a pretty brutal approach to how he’s going to clean things up by cutting the population in half.

Was there anyone you were excited to play with?

The Guardians because I hadn’t met any of them off screen and never had worked with them. Also, I was really interested to see how the characters were going to interact. Thor ends up going on a journey separately with just Rocket and Groot and that became such a fun little dynamic as well.

How does Thor get on without Mjölnir?

Thor has lost everything at this point. We have kind of stripped him back to a point where he no longer has his weapon of choice or the thing that he believes represented his power and defined him. Everything and everyone important in his life has been destroyed. So he has quite a fatalistic attitude and gives it all he’s got. That seems wildly suicidal, but he doesn’t see any other option. So that brings out something different in him again.

How has it been working with Josh Brolin?

Josh has a great sense of humour, very laid-back. He has a sort of no-problem, just-do-it attitude and doesn’t suffer fools. There’s just an honesty to him as a human being and a directness, which is so refreshing when coupled with his great sense of humour. So watching him work was a huge pleasure, and I feel like I learned a lot from his approach.

Has Robert Downey Jr. always been a leader on these films?

Robert has always led the way like a true leader and champion. There’s always been such great encouragement from him, such great constant feedback on what we’re doing. He’s always observing, always watching, doesn’t miss a beat. He’s always the first person to tell you that something works or that it was fantastic. As a young actor, when I first started this franchise, hearing that from Robert was like having the tick of approval and being let into the club. Even to right now, six, seven years on, he still has that same attitude. And it’s a true testament to his humility and attitude and his love for this franchise and all these characters.

Of this really interesting interview this is what jumps out to me as exciting and interesting.

1. - And this really is Thor at his best, as Joe and Anthony described it. This is the most heroic, most vengeful, passionate, driven, committed version of Thor that we’ve seen.

2. - We end Thor: Ragnarok with a rather large spaceship approaching. We then pick it up in Avengers: Infinity War in the middle of a battle.

4. - Thor has lost everything at this point. 1. "Thor at his best." Music to my ears. That's what we always want and after seeing Thor done epically in Ragnarok i can't wait to see what they have in store for us now. I love his behaviroual description and the word that jumps out is "vengeful" which will sure give him that extra impact in the movie.

2. We knew that there was going to be a battle in that spaceship. It doesn't look like anytime is going to be wasted setting that up.

3. Thanos is going to be a beast as expected.

4. Now here is where it may enter the spoilery territory. [BLACKOUT]"Everything and everyone important in his life has been destroyed". [/BLACKOUT] Now that's pretty clear and explains a lot of his own motivations and how personal the journey is for Thor.

[BLACKOUT](if he were to be double-crossed again, that could be the last straw for Thor... I'm just suspicious about all the telegraphing about who dies, you know? So spoiler-loathing, and yet making some things seem so obvious)[/BLACKOUT]

So I just had a really stupid and not so sober thought. For some of the merchandise, we see Thor with [BLACKOUT]two eyes. What if he gets a replacement eye from Rocket, since he may have kept the cybernetic eye that Groot stole in Vol. 2?

......I'll just show myself out now. :o

I'd be cool with seeing Thor with the one eye for MOST of IW and then back to two near end or sometime in middle.

Just to have him rock that one eye look for at least a larger part of one movie especially if he meets Nick Fury during.

It's been suggested a few times since the merchandise came out that he will be [BLACKOUT]gifted the eye Rocket stole.[/BLACKOUT]

True,I'd prefer a bit more Asgardian cosmic "science" than simply a bionic eye.

Same here, he's already using a branch from Groot to hold Stormbreaker together we don't need him getting anything from Rocket.

May as well make him a full fledged Guardians of The Galaxy character while we're at it geez.

If you really think about it - it's a natural progression though. Especially since he road trips with Rocket/Groot and they gift him. We already know where he gets the handle for Stormbreaker.

Btw, can't remember which TV spot it was but it appears as though he gets the patch ripped off at some point.

It certainly does appear like the journey with Rocket and Groot would or could go that way.

If so cool.

Re: handle - yes :woot:

Thor looks epic in this IW poster. The flowing red cape, the black armour, the shining disks, the lighting coming down from above and engulfing his body, him flying... Amazing stuff.
