Sci-Fi Francis Ford Coppola's MEGALOPOLIS

Something did seem off when those review quotes were popping up but I was too busy rolling my eyes at the whole thing but seeing it again makes it look even more heinous. It's documented that the critics' response to The Godfather Part II and Apocalypse Now was maybe at worst divisive but the response to The Godfather was overwhelming praise.

See, I feel like you can put the potential quality of the film and his alleged on-set conduct on him, but this… I kind of doubt Coppola’s old ass had much to do with this.

This trailer was one of the funniest things I have seen in a while. OMG, amazing. This movie has its head so far up its butt, it's hysterical

I don't think it was his idea but he definitely must have approved it.

... what?
I thought it was already bad enough to dig up the few negative reviews of films that have since been recognized as classics in an attempt to create a shield of vanity for this new one, but now we learn that... these reviews aren't even true? What's the point?! :funny:

This film is hopelessly doomed. The first reviews may not have been good, but with Coppola's, hum, shenanigans, everyone now wants to hate the film no matter what.
It's a shame for Adam Driver and Aubrey Plaza, two actors I really like and for whom I was hoping for a big win. Erf, they'll bounce back anyway.

Just when this couldn't get any worse........

I have half a mind to apologize to Richard Kelly. Yes, Southland Tales was a pretentious mess, but at least Kelly wasn't trying to claim he was reinventing the wheel. He was just trying to make a complex sci-fi movie inspired by the Book of Revelations and have fun making it. This? This is a ****ing joke and it's not even out yet.

Even without all the controversy, this is absolutely not a movie that would blow the roof off the box office in this day and age.

in other words, Lionsgate is filing for bankruptcy this year.

I think this was funded by Coppola, so Lionsgate has essentially distribution costs and marketing. That's it. So it ain't all that bad for them

Frankly I am shocked is tracking that high

So they deleted the fake movie review quotes but kept the narrator praising Coppola in the trailer.

If he had a sense of humour, after all this debacle, in the "one filmmaker has always been ahead of his time" part he would add "Steven Spielberg. But from Francis Ford Coppola comes..." :o
