Probably to save it for ComicCon.

So the full Comic-Con schedule has been released...

No premiere for The Dark Knight Returns: Part One. No panel for the DC Comics Premiere Movie line at all.

Weird.

Looking forward to this one, I'm sure Peter Weller can do a better voice for Batman than the plank of wood who voiced him in the Year One adaptation.

Yep... it's official. No premeire at Comic-con and no panel for the line.

Definitely weird.

The Dark Knight Returns: Part 1 will be available on DVD/Blu-Ray/Digital Download October 23rd.

Why the hell wouldn't there be a panel of anything about it? Very strange...

And I'm not sure how I feel about that cover. October 23rd seems so far away.

Every single time I find a trailer link it's already been taken down. I'm excited for this but I haven't seen or heard anything from it. What the **** is WB's problem that they don't want this advertised?

This picture doesn't make any sense in the context of this DTV.

Obviously the Batman film that Warner Brothers is focusing their attentions on now is The Dark Knight Rises, at the expense of this films promotion.
And that cover is very misleading, since it doesn't even look like Batman does in the Dark Knight Returns film. I hope that cover is just a mock up concept cover and not the cover they are going with. I naturally assumed they would go with this as the cover:

It is the obvious, appropriate and iconic choice for the cover of a Batman: The Dark Knight Returns film.
The film itself looks impressively faithful to the source material.

Peter Weller (Dexter, Naked Lunch, RoboCop) as Batman in Batman: The Dark Knight Returns is excellent casting. He's a great character actor and his voice captures the grizzled, gruff gravitas and hard edge of the Dark Knight Universe Batman. As Frank Miller explained in Comics Interview #31 (1986), "Batman changes the way people live by his presence! His methods couldn't be nice. He is essentially a terrorist superhero. Much of what he does to criminals is staged like a horror movie. He's the hero who acts like a villain. the epitome of the the Dionysian hero. Even though Batman was created for kids, his roots are in the pulps, specifically the Shadow."

Frank Miller explained in Comic Book Confidential, "When Batman was created he was just ruthless in his methods. Terrifying the criminals. Over the years that got softened and softened because people started thinking that comics had to be just for kids, and once they decided they were made just for kids, all of a sudden Batman had to be made much nicer. What I've been trying to do is take the stuff of the old comics and do it, in a way that's worth reading for me."

71 year old David Selby (Rich and Famous, Falcon Crest) as 70 year old Commissioner Gordon is also excellent casting. He's another great veteran character actor. He's voice sounds like he's been through hard times, and is very expressive. He conveys deep feeling and emotion very well with just his voice. You feel for him. Frank Miller explained in Comics Interview #31 (1986), "Gordon turned out to be a particular pleasure to write. He retires in the course of the series - he's seventy, he's old. It's a mandatory retirement."

13 year old Ariel Winter (Modern Family) as 13 year old Carrie Kelley/Robin is great casting, other than being the right age, she's shown she's a capable young actress on Modern Family as a cheerful, spunky, resourceful, brainy young girl.

Michael McKean (Auto Focus, X-Files) as physiatrist Bartholomew Wolper is great casting. Micheal McKean is great as a pompous guy with a superiority complex.
Wade Williams (Burn Notice) as Two-Face is good casting. He has experience in both voice acting and villain roles.
Gary Anthony Williams (Dystopia) as the Mutant leader is also good casting. He also has experience in both voice acting and villain roles.
I wonder who is voicing Alfred and Joker, as well as Superman, Green Arrow, Selina Kyle, etc. in Batman: The Dark Knight Returns: Part Two.
Looks definitely faithful to the source material.
