YET ANOTHER LATINO REVIEW EXCLUSIVE!

I have just learned through my sources that BRENDAN FRASER has booked the role of GUNG HO for Stephen Sommer’s big screen live-action adaptation of "G.I. Joe." Now, it is only a one scene cameo. The scene is question is a training sequence at THE PIT. Brendan already shot his part. Me personally, I always thought GUNG HO was the most gay looking of the Joes. I mean come on, the tattooed chest, the vest with no shirt on and that hat?! If there was a soldier in the VILLAGE PEOPLE, GUNG HO would definitely be it!

I also learned that AN OFFER has been made to THE ROCK for the role of HECTOR DELGADO aka SHIPWRECK. At this time THE ROCK hasn’t said either yes or no, but the offer is out to him. Can THE ROCK smell what Shipwreck is cooking? We should find out soon enough. I knew it was only a matter of time before they would start offering Latino roles to THE ROCK who is Samoan.

So now you know!

YO JOE!

Brendan Fraser wouldn't have been my first choice for Gung-Ho, I could see him as Dusty. But for a one scene cameo, I guess that'll work.

Rock's got the right combination of humor and toughness to be a good Shipwreck. I wouldn't be against him being in this flick.

Oddly enough, it might be more suitable for the positions to be reversed. Gung Ho was inhumanly strong, which is more like a Rock, where Shipwreck was more rakish, which is more like Brendan Fraser.

By the way, there was a soldier on the Village People. Alex Briley alternated between being a soldier and a sailor.

The fact that I recalled his name off the top of my head without having to look it up on Wikipedia makes me very, very sad. :(

This is probably the first time I will sound off and say the casting sucks! I'm a fan of Fraser, but he should not have been Gung Ho. He just does not seem right for the part. Too much of a pretty boy. I'd rather see Michael Chiklis in this role.

It's better casting than that kid from 3rd Rock from the Sun as Cobra friggen Commander and Marlon Wayans

It's funny how some 'certain' web sites (that I won't mention) are up in arms over The Rock because he's a Samoan playing a 'latino' character.
First off, I didn't know that Shipwreck was Latino. Second off, I'm sure that it's only a cameo or a very small role.

Thirdly, if the Latino community gets mad over this, do I have to remind them that it's GI JOE? Do i have to tell them that a guy name Shipwreck dresses up like a sailor 24/7?

My point, yes those 'certain sites' should care, but they should care more important roles. This is nothing.

Shipwreck isn't Latino. He was a foster kid that was adopted by a Hispanic family.

I'm so glad that Fraser is in this, but as Gung Ho? I wanted him for Flint. Damn.

And why was The Rock offered Shipwreck? Hunter Rider's right about The Rock being Samoan, but Shipwreck is supposed to be Latino I thought. His last name is Delgado.

The Rock kicks arse, but he aint no Shipwreck. Sorry, The Rock.

I hope there was some miscommunication when this rumor was being passed down the grapevine, those roles look they should be swapped.

That's what I'm thinking. The casting only makes sense if it's the inverse of what's been written. Someone must have flubbed.

I like Benjamin Bratt for Shipwreck. And I agree Fraser would make a nice Flint.

Here's hoping they get Sgt. Slaughter to be the drill sergeant for the training montage!

Maggots.

Are you sure? I always thought he was Latino.

Maybe it wasn't the case in the comics, but Shipwreck states he's adopted in the cartoon, "Captives of Cobra, Part 1" to be exact.

If you're talking about Latino Review, I don't think they got up in arms about it,

I knew it was only a matter of time before they would start offering Latino roles to THE ROCK who is Samoan.

Sounds to me like the guy was expecting Rock to stark getting offers to play Latinos.

I really doubt we(the Latino community) are going to be up in arms about The Rock playing a Latino, I mean Jack Black played a Mexican and no one cared.

I don't care who gets cast as Shipwreck, as long as it wouldn't be some teeny bopper kid. The Rock? my 2nd favorite wrestler playing my 2nd favorite GI Joe character(Storm Shadow's #1), I'm all for it.

I have a funny story in that regard- I've known quite a few Latinos with light skin and brown hair- their parentage is mixed, and it really shows. I knew a lady who was Latina and she ran the intercultural department at my college, and when talking about plays at the college, she said I could probably pass for Latino so I should try out.

I have light skin and brown hair. But based on this lady's experience, I could pass.

Hugh Jackman for Shipwreck if you going to old buddies.
The Rock- Gung Ho.
Brandon Fraiser- Would be a better Flint or Cobra Commander.
Also in my opinion Flint should be in over Hawk for he ran it more if you ask me.

I'm tired of this movie and hearing bad decision after bad decision.

Brendan Fraser as Gung Ho? And if there's a sequel they'll do they same ole ******ed Hollywood-thing and get someone different for the sequel.

The Rock as Shipwreck isn't too bad but from the perspective that Shipwreck is Latino but the Rock doesn't exactly have the personality of Shipwreck nor do I believe he can portray it.

That's what I was thinking too. I think they fit the opposite characters better than the ones that were picked.

Yes...that is quite sad lol.

More crappy casting (and sorry but the rock as shipwreck?!? you guys who like that idea must be really f**king high)

If this is true, I don't mind.

I think it's about as true as Common being cast as Roadblock. He probably won't do it because it's such a small cameo role. I wouldn't worry about it if you don't like the choice.
