Fraser Gung-Ho For G.I. Joe And The Rock To Get Shipwrecked?

I think the Rock has gotten smaller in the last few years. The hulking Rock of Scorpion King would be terrible in the role of Shipwreck when Roadblock and Gung Ho are supposed to be giant powerful figures. But a tall but more slender Rock would be okay. Shipwreck is supposed to be a SEAL nowadays afterall (always thought some of the skill levels of some of the Joe members were questionable for an elite force, and Shipwreck being portrayed as little more than a deckhand didnt fit, but SEAL does).

I agree with whoever thought Fraser seems more like a good casting for Dusty though. Bald head a huge moustache doesnt seem to fit Brendan...

I think it's about as true as Common being cast as Roadblock. He probably won't do it because it's such a small cameo role. I wouldn't worry about it if you don't like the choice.

Latino Review does have an excellent reputation for casting, though. They were spot on with Channing Tatum as Duke. They were the very first to report that Heath Ledger was The Joker. It's an unbeatable record for sure.

Good grief. How about James Earl Jones as Serpentor next?

I like the Rock but I don't see him as Shipwreck.

Fraser as Gung Ho is a ridiculous thought in itself.

I could see both of these guys in this film but as characters different than the ones stated in the article.

WTF is with the casting for this movie?!?!? It's like everything is backwards!!!

Once again, we have a situation where The Rock should play Gung Ho and Fraser should play Shipwreck. God...I'm gonna find the casting director and slap him/her in the face.

And I really can't buy The Rock taking orders from Channing Tatum. Blehhhhhh. Sucks cause I always thought Rock would be a great Duke.

and I think we all know the only reason Brendan Fraser has a part in this film is because he's good friend with Sommers from working on The Mummy trilogy.

clearly he didn't have anything on his plate, so he called up his buddy the director of G.I. Joe to hook him up with a role.

This news is freaking awesome. I'm just barely getting into Joe (I was born in 1987, so I never really saw the cartoon) but I always loved the action figures and mythology of it. Shipwreck became my favorite character instantly because his real name is Hector (like me) Delgado. So he's Mexican (like me), which is awesome. AND he was born in Chula Vista (like me, where I also live currently.)

The Rock is one of the best, if not THE best, action stars working right now, so him as Hector Delgado is perfect. I can totally buy Dwayne Johnson as an a-hole NAVY SEAL who's always talking crap but is extremely loyal to his troop and his friends. I hope his "cameo" leads to more in the sequels.

And although he might not look anything like old pics of shipwreck (him on the right):

He can totally pull off the newer Shipwreck:

Next thing you know they'll be hiring Rosie O'donnell as Dr. Mindbender, R2-D2 as a B.A.T and Nathan Lane as Scrap Iron! Does no one else see the insanity in this? Below is the name of the person(s) who is responsible for the casting of this travesty (or travesty of casting, depending on your opinon): Janet Hirshenson

I'm emailing her Right now because she is ridiculous...but at the end of the day she will just click delete and get in her 78,000 dollar lamborghini and drive to her 3 million dollar water front condo and drink wine that costs three times my salary.

With that being said don't ignore me jeanny cause i will slash your brakelines *****.:hoboj:

I don't know why everyone is pissing and moaning about The Rock. The original article says he was OFFERED the part of Shipwreck. Do you know how many OFFERS are thrown around Hollywood every day? I say save the crying until after it's confirmed.

Looking through this thread, I believe the upset is over Brendan Fraser mainly. He's already filmed his role, though, which is irreversible. Unless they cut him from the film, of course.

You are correct. "Offered" is the prevalent term here. But Isn't this the same Rock that was "offered" the lead role in Spy Hunter and again in "The One?" Which one did he turn down and which one turned out to be the better movie? I like the guy, He's a decent actor and seems to be made to be an action hero but "bad casting is bad casting". Only thing worse is Brendan Frasers Gung Ho (See prior statement for explanation). Hell I can live with this one, I prefer that over Marlon Wayans/Ripcord!

Seems like Sommers is casting based off his Mummy movies if this is true. Fraser, Vosloo (who would have made a better Destro) and The Rock.

Not to mention Kevin J. O'Connor as Dr. Mindbender. I understand he wants cameos, but they could at least get the casting right. Fraser is...such a bizzare choice for Gung Ho. Especially when they offer Shipwreck to The Rock.

The casting of this movie is mind boggling.

They said he was offered the role, not that he took it. Common even confirmed he was offered the role of Roadblock, but he didn't take it. I still wouldn't worry about it.

Dudes name is Common Sense, theres a reason he turned this s**t down :)

Don't you mean, Mindbending?

I look forward to the announcement of Renee Zellwegger as Tomax and Sinbad as Xamot.

How about Warrick Davis (and I'm a fan of his) as Spirit? Uma Thurman as Lady Jaye? Sanaa Lathan as Zarana and Elijah Wood as Zandar?

I swear they casted from a dart board. I wouldn't even be mad if they used the weird casting as new characters strictly for the movie but come on now, you have to admit it seems like sabotage now. The ratio good to bad is what now...like 4:15

Steve Austin should have been Gung Ho assuming this rumor is true, and the Rock as shiwreck is a disaster! Aren't casting directors supposed to find actors who look and can sound like the characters they are potraying, again look at Steve Austin and Gung Ho, this is why I wanted Angelina Jolie to play the Barones, damn it.
