I was reminded of Final Fantasy: X when we found out Peter never existed

From TV Guide:
How is Fringe going to handle Peter never existing? — Amanda
NATALIE: Au contraire, Amanda! Peter did exist, according to the man who plays his father, John Noble. He says the final scene of the season finale, in which the Observers appear to negate Peter's existence "was a slight teaser in the wrong direction, because Peter did exist, but Peter died as a child; both Peters died as a child." As a result, the Season 4 premiere might remind you of It's a Wonderful Life, as we'll find Walter in a familiar predicament. "When we meet him in Season 4, he's still insane, locked into the lab with guards, and mad because he's never had Peter to bring him out of it," Noble says. "He won't have had that motivation to repair himself, so he's quite mad and neurotic and obsessive-compulsive. He's agoraphobic, so he won't go out of the lab."
Huh...

The Peter & Walter relationship made the show. It is a risky move not having it. It is very possible that the ratings will start to suck after the first episode due to not having that funny relationship between Peter & Walter & people just stop watching altogether. I doubt many will be happy with The Observer Peter either. I hope these guys know what they are doing

So the show is going back to the beginning and this time no Peter? Ugh! Seriously, how was peter dead in both Universes? That would make everything we have seen in the show so far not real or some type of delusuon. I don't like this kind of crap so they better have a hell of a trick up there sleeve.

God, you people have no faith...

Seconded.

I was hoping in season 3 they weren't going to do the back and forth switching between universes each week.

Except they did. And they did it awesomely. And I'm glad they did.

Can't wait to see how they handle season 4.

I have faith. It can't be any worse than William Bell in Olivia's body.

So underrated.

Wish I could do half as good a Nimoy voice.

Not sure how the silly "Peter is an Observer now" rumor/theory started, but hopefully this is a good sign it won't happen.

Q: You showed up at Comic-Con dressed as an observer. You must be well aware of the theories that the fans are floating that Peter has been transformed into an Observer…

Jackson: Well, I was pro-Observer theory. The guys told me that that was wrong, so I guess that was my one chance to get all Observer dressed up and try it out.

Q: So we can at least say that Peter is not an Observer?

Jackson: [Laughs] You can say whatever you like, and I can say whatever I like. They don't tell me those things. So as far as I know today, I'm not an Observer. But who knows tomorrow? I thought it would have been really cool. I had a whole theory. Everybody has their theories. I had a whole theory that the Observers became Observers because they had messed with the timeline and got themselves basically stuck outside of time. The Fringe world was kind of working on a time loop, and each of the Observers was Peter from a different time the loop had gone around... But that was wrong!

There's more at the jump.

It started because he appeared at the end of that one video as an Observer. And while the rest of the video was done in a humorous way, that last reveal with him really felt like it was supposed to be a serious shocker moment.

I sort of hope it's right. It would really be a cool idea for the writers to play with. And I'd love to see if Olivia would feel like she recognized him if she saw him (although, they all seem to have little luck in noticing Observers in all the other episodes :p :awesome:)

I always thought of the video as just being comical. Just a gag video. I never took it serious at all. I mean, you can still see his hair under his hat. To each their own.

While i didn't see much episodes of Season 3 i remember in the end of season 2 Walter mentioning Aliens and how he would like to investigates those another time, in a TV show that mean:
Aliens Foreshadowing, we'll do those story arcs in one of these seasons, let us just finish the dimension story arc.

Was there any more Alien foreshadowing?
And can Fringe really survive another season?

I actually like his theory. It would be such a twist to find out that all the Observers were just Peters from different universes.

One thing I have always wondered. Clearly the universe that the show starts off with is our universe. Then season 2 introduces an alternative universe and they focus on two different universes. But have they confirmed that there is an infinite number of universes and the alternate universe that they show is just one out an infinite number that exists? Or are there only 2 universes within the show's mythology and not anymore than that?

While it's unfortunate i think the show will end in season 4 with a cliffhanger, considering Abrams planned more season story arcs and that there's still that possible Aliens story arc too

Is that new footage of Olivia? Or is that just a past scene that I've forgotten?

I feel like that is old footage from season 2 or 3. But I'm not really sure.

Yeah, according to EW the Olivia footage is new.

So I guess she starts thinking that something is missing ? Ala Peter

IF my memory serves me well, there are more than two universes.
As for the Observers I think they are beyond the concept of universe but the Peters theory is not bad, at a time I thought Peters would end becoming one but I dished the idea after reading some spoiler ( quotes from J Noble about the next season ).

I wonder if Observer Peter will be leaving clues to Olivia & Walter & breaking the rules to try & get things back to normal ?

Do we know for sure that Peter will become an observer? I thought it was just speculation at this point.

No but with all of the Teasing that they have done it would be a little bit of a let down if he is not an Observer :o
