Huh...How is Fringe going to handle Peter never existing? — Amanda
NATALIE: Au contraire, Amanda! Peter did exist, according to the man who plays his father, John Noble. He says the final scene of the season finale, in which the Observers appear to negate Peter's existence "was a slight teaser in the wrong direction, because Peter did exist, but Peter died as a child; both Peters died as a child." As a result, the Season 4 premiere might remind you of It's a Wonderful Life, as we'll find Walter in a familiar predicament. "When we meet him in Season 4, he's still insane, locked into the lab with guards, and mad because he's never had Peter to bring him out of it," Noble says. "He won't have had that motivation to repair himself, so he's quite mad and neurotic and obsessive-compulsive. He's agoraphobic, so he won't go out of the lab."
God, you people have no faith...
I have faith. It can't be any worse than William Bell in Olivia's body.
Q: You showed up at Comic-Con dressed as an observer. You must be well aware of the theories that the fans are floating that Peter has been transformed into an Observer…
Jackson: Well, I was pro-Observer theory. The guys told me that that was wrong, so I guess that was my one chance to get all Observer dressed up and try it out.
Q: So we can at least say that Peter is not an Observer?
Jackson: [Laughs] You can say whatever you like, and I can say whatever I like. They don't tell me those things. So as far as I know today, I'm not an Observer. But who knows tomorrow? I thought it would have been really cool. I had a whole theory. Everybody has their theories. I had a whole theory that the Observers became Observers because they had messed with the timeline and got themselves basically stuck outside of time. The Fringe world was kind of working on a time loop, and each of the Observers was Peter from a different time the loop had gone around... But that was wrong!
I actually like his theory. It would be such a twist to find out that all the Observers were just Peters from different universes.
One thing I have always wondered. Clearly the universe that the show starts off with is our universe. Then season 2 introduces an alternative universe and they focus on two different universes. But have they confirmed that there is an infinite number of universes and the alternate universe that they show is just one out an infinite number that exists? Or are there only 2 universes within the show's mythology and not anymore than that?
Do we know for sure that Peter will become an observer? I thought it was just speculation at this point.
