Full August Solicitations list.

My list:

Astonishing X-Men #26
Avengers/Invaders #4
Invincible Iron Man #4
Secret Invasion: Thor #1
Captain Britain and MI: 13 #4
Fantastic Four #560
Secret Invasion #5
Secret Invasion: X-Men #1
Captain America #41
Incredible Hercules #120
Uncanny X-Men #501
Criminal #6
Fantastic Four: True Story #2
Ms. Marvel #30
Secret Invasion: Runaways/Young Avengers #3
X-Force #6

No Thor this month, skipping again; I knew two issues off wasn't enough for Coipel.

Maybe also SI: Inhumans, depending on whether or not I clear some DC books off my list in the coming months.

Really looking forward to Cornell's FF miniseries; his Marvel projects so far have all been home-runs.

That's a rather confusing solicit/cover combination for FF proper; what do Galactus, Doom, and Human Torch have to do with that? Regardless, I've been enjoying Millar's FF so far.

Re: Avengers/Invaders; with the exception of Spidey vs. Black Widow, all of those fights would be curbstomps for the Mighty Avengers.

Wow, the big "Death of Cap" arc will be over in September? I'm unsure how I feel about that, given how awesome it's been; nevertheless, we've got Bucky, Sharon, Natasha, and Sam all here, which should rock.

I think "penultimate chapter" may just mean this is the third act of the Death of Cap saga. As in, there's still this arc and one more before it ends. Which makes a lot more sense to me, since bringing Steve back in #50 would have more impact than bringing him back in #42.

Spider-Man Summer Special: Finally, a Spider-Man comic I would gladly read. Looking forward to this. :)

Eternals sounds awesome. I'm really looking forward to that becoming the third leg of a Marvel mythology trinity alongside Thor and Incredible Herc.

FF: True Story sounds like one of Cebulski's Fairy Tales minis, only with a plot driving the whole thing. Which, to me, is an improvement, as is the fact that Cornell will be exploring some less overused material like Ivanhoe. I'll check that out.

True Believers, on the other hand, sounds like the Daily Bugle mini-series from a few years ago, only less interesting. Pass on that.

I wonder who "CENSORED" is in the GR solicit. If it's Dan and he's not evil for some ******ed reason, I'll pick it up. If it's anyone else or Dan is evil, pass.

IIF sounds... interesting. Maybe the new team can actually pull it off.

Moore's Iron Man arc sounds cool. Pagulayan on art never hurts, either.

I have no idea where Casey's going with The Last Defenders at this point. But it's not a bad read and he remembered The Crew, so I'll stick with it 'til the end. Maybe the Defenders can become a permanent fixture of the Marvel universe again.

MCP's cover looks awesome, and it's got some impressive creators on it. I've all but lost interest in the Vanguard story, but the Guardian story is still chugging along. I'm interested enough in where it's going to stick with it. Plus, non-Nextwave Machine Man. Yay!

Ew, that little psycho Marvel Boy is being set up as the next Captain Marvel? Bleh.

Haha, they're actually bringing the Skrull Kill Krew back in A:TI. Awesome.

Beta Ray Bill in SI: Thor! Holy hell, I can't WAIT for that! :D :D :D Hopefully Fraction read Omega Flight and has Thor go into that alternate dimension to retrieve Bill rather than just having Bill appear out of nowhere. Also, I hope Bill keeps his OF costume. Distinguishing him from Thor with a new color set was definitely a good idea.

SI: X-Men doesn't really hold much interest for me on the surface, but Carey and Nord are a hell of a team and the prospect of actually seeing all the X-Men as a united front sounds cool. I'll probably try it out.

I hope Super-Skrull doesn't actually fight Richie. At this point, after weathering two wars on the same side, they should be beyond this nonsense. Besides, Kl'rt's no religious fanatic, and his people turned on him any-damn-way. He should be kicking Skrull ass alongside the other heroes. Only with more blood and gore 'cause he's still Kl'rt.

Herc vs. Kly'bn! I'm so excited for "Sacred Invasion" it kind of scares me. It's rare that you get such a genuinely novel approach to an event tie-in.

4 issues ain't bad for actually forming a full team these days. I'm curious about MI-13's cover, though. Yet another costume change for Brian? Yeesh, he's like a male version of the Wasp.

Very excited for the She-Hulk/X-Factor crossover. What a weird combination of characters. It should be fun. I hope Darwin sticks around in one title or the other, too; I thought he was cool in my brief exposure to him during Brubaker's pre-MC stuff.

Wow, New Warriors actually sounds interesting again. I'm considering picking it up again.

Runaways' cover makes me weep. :(

Skaar's cover, on the other hand, makes me smile. :) **** World War Hulk and Loeb's series; this is the follow-up to Planet Hulk I've been waiting for. And apparently Garney's going to be joined by Butch Guice, which makes this almost inconceivably awesome.

I... kind of like how the X-Men are wearing their X's as badges on their left breast now. It's like a subtle embrace of their longtime mission to essentially police the world's mutants. I still wish Scott would get his jacket back, though. Oh, and I think I've decided to just stick with Legacy and forget all the other X-Men stuff. Who knew Xavier could be such a compelling lead character?

Ooh, Layla Miller one-shot. I kind of wish she'd just get back to X-Factor already, but this seems interesting.

Heh, McKeever's Inhumans series is being retitled Young Inhumans for a trade. I guess Marvel's decided on their new naming convention for anything involving teenagers.

I may just start buying those Onslaught trades. I never did get to read the entire Onslaught story when it was coming out.

Brubaker and Fraction on Uncanny has me the most excited, I think, of all Marvel's titles. It's been so long since the X-Men seemed like a family, and I think with the fact that pretty much everyone will be taking up residence in San Fransisco, I'll get to see that again. The only downside is Greg Land's art. I don't how I'm going to stomach that.

What's wrong with Greg Land? He's half the reason i'm going to be reading Uncanny. I loved his work on Ultimate FF4 and Ultimate Power.

To quote someone from another thread: if you don't know what's wrong with (Greg Land), I can't help you.

Oh come on, so what if he bases characters off of real people? The guy's a good artist, at least he doesn't blatantly steal and retrace images like David Mack does.

People tend to dislike his plagiarist collage style of art. It's more on principle than actually disliking the artwork. Personally I couldn't care less as long as it looks good.

I don't like the way his art looks, either. Copying everything from magazines tends to make his art seem very stiff and posed.

Eh, to each his own. Still, if you disagree with me you probably suck.

I agree with Anubis, as long as it looks good, then i really dont care. I think its kind of creative actually to be basing characters off of real people.

Obviously, a lot of people agree with you. His comics sell like hotcakes.

I will gleefully continue to ignore any and everything with his name on it, however. :)

I might be in love w/ that SI:Thor cover. As soon as Corp and Vartha are done humping it, it's my turn :o:D

Well, it's not so much that he bases his characters off of real people so much as he takes pictures from magazines and other comics he's done, and then photoshops the same pics over and over again, rather than drawing it all over again like everybody else.

I can see how that might be considered lazy, but I've yet to see anybody else do it as well as he does it. Until average Joe angryposter does it that well, I'll just look at it as a different kind of art style.

whats with the young avengers/runaways cover. Did Chase get his gloves back?

I'm thinking of going outside the box this month and picking up...

Looks badass.

:thing: :doom: :thing:

Uh, yes he does; all the time.

He's a hack and a thief; what's worse is that he actually has talent (see his work in the Bat-titles in the late 90s), and so can create good art, it's just that he chooses not to. His work has no unity, no weight or sense of movement, and the expressions don't match what the story says is happening (what should be "I'm screaming because I'm scared for my life" becomes "I'm having vigorous sex").

Actually, that's what he does. That, and...porn faces!

Fact is, he can't draw. He's no better than Mack.
