Full August Solicits

Reed Richards: "I've cured cancer!"
Sue Richards: "You cured cancer?"
RR: "I've cured cancer!"
SR: "Really?"
RR: "Really."
SR: "I slept with Clint Barton last night, had to see what the fuss was all about"
RR: "I hate you bendis!"

You forgot the two panels where they sit in silence and just look blankly at one another.

I thought that went without saying.

... while Sue thinks, "God, why did I marry this idiot?"

along with some inappropriate and out of place comment about his streaching ability.

Gentlemen I think we've got almost an entire bendis comic written here. Let's throw in a scene of some heroine getting beaten and wolverine getting his nuts blasted by a laser while Spider-Man makes a joke and get's his ass handed to him by some random ninja guy and we're all set.

Not enough stammering. It needs to be something more like:

Reed: "I've cured cancer!"
Sue: "Y-you--wait, just wait a sec--you cured cancer? Uh--wow...wow, r-really?"

I wonder if Bendis actually talks that way in real life?

It's a Bendis book. Dread would hate it even if it contained the cure for cancer.

Untrue; I would simply be more inclined to hate it. ;)

In all fairness, the cure for cancer would probably have really terrible dialogue and not behave anything like you'd expect the cure for cancer to behave.

Good point.

You forgot the two panels where they sit in silence and just look blankly at one another.

And the entire page he devotes to talking about urine.

I wonder if Bendis actually talks that way in real life?

It would explain why he writes like that. It wouldn't explain how a wife could stand it, though.

Where is the Hulk and where is Skaar? Are they on vacation in August? ;) :(

Rating: PARENTAL ADVISORY SKAAR: SON OF HULK # 3
The Story: He's the Son of Hulk, born in fire, raised by monsters, and destined to smash. She's the Hero Protector of Imperia, claimant, and the deadliest and most beautiful warrior of the battlescarred wastelands. Will Skaar and Princess Omaka join forces to protect the refugees fleeing from Axeman Bone's merciless barbarians -- or will they tear each other to pieces in the radioactive swamps? Plus: A shocking second story pencilled by star artist Butch Guice!
Parental Advisory …$2.99

In Stores: Aug 27, 2008 - see details
Hulk is indeed missing, though. Maybe McGuinness needed more time.

Already he is not showing up in May. And I just hope they get rid of this red hulk and go back to the ghreen scar hulk.

August is a pretty great month. I have to say that I am very much looking forward to the Amazing Spider-Man issues in August as Dan Slott and Romita Jr. will finally be teaming up. They are my dream creative team and it has finally come true. And Mark Waid doing a back up story just puts the icing on the cake.

And it sucks to see Garth Ennis' run end on Punisher but what a fantastic run it was.

Ennis' run should be compared to Byrne's FF, Perez' Teen Titans, and Simonson's Thor.

He just knows that character.

:thing: :doom: :thing:

Oh, hell yes! Just a few months after WWH ends, everything went back to normal as if this so-called "mega event" never happened, and the Hulk went back to his "Hulk Smash! Puny Banner" Banter. I loved Hulk's WWH character. You can't go back to the generic "child-like monster" when you treated us to the calculating, strategic warrior-like Hulk for so long.

I like the Iron Fist solicit:

Pencils & Cover by TRAVEL FOREMAN
A mysterious force that has plagued Immortal Iron Fists for centuries sets its sights on Danny Rand. But what is the Ch'i-Lin, and why is it destined to kill him? Danny races for answers for answers, as the fan-favorite legacy of the IMMORTAL IRON FIST grows even richer and more layered with the crackerjack creative team of Duane Swierczynski (CABLE) and Travel Foreman (ARES)!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$2.99

I like what I see so far from the new creative team.

I'll be buying these:

Astonishing X-Men #26
Captain America #41
Criminal #6
Daredevil #110
Fantastic Four #560
Uncanny X-Men #501

The only one I'm not sure will be good is AXM. I've never read anything by Ellis where he had to work with long-established characters, but I haven't heard great things. I'll see how it goes after a couple issues, though.

And apparently there's no Thor in August. I'm bummed.
