It's even worse than that. They make is pretty damn clear that the one asian character IS a different nationality. But, I think most were more concerned with other, larger changes they made to those movies than Japan casting 100% Japanese.

Eesh. Unless they do it as a side story done in one thing in the vein of Sacred Star of Milos or something, I'm not sure how it'll work within the series own internal logic and world. Even if you ignore the fact the characters are supposed to be German/English in descent, you've still got the Ishvallans who are entirely a different race and factor into the plot.
